Do not worry, they will figure out a way to take it back from you.
Yeah, I think I am going to apply it to ammo. (a little ammo)
Isn't retirement great !!!
Great news joe. Can I borrow $40.00 for pizza and beer?
Got my email notice last week to check their website to see how massive my increase will be. After a couple of days I figured out how to sign in and got the figure. Still can't afford much ammo. Oh well, back to buying lottery tickets!😀 Bob
I will be getting a nice increase however just means SS goes broke sooner.
For which he will gladly pay you back on Tuesday.
Well if they do the govt will set up the new Robin Hood policy.. steal from the rich...those who paid and give to the poor. There will be an asset qualification.. if you own a home or assets you will be disqualified by the govt knowing what you have per bank accounts etc.
Correct He Dog, but I didn't say what Tuesday.
I just checked ours....so with inflation, we only fell about 2% behind ! But I am not complaining
Checked and got mine also, pays for part of my beer...😁
Does that mean my mod salary can go up?

Well, it surely can't go down! Don
I see you don't believe in negative numbers.

Let me see what I can do
Joe, I authorize you to triple Mr. P's salary.
It has been a Ponzi scheme since it's very beginning, your complaint is nothing new. It should last until you and I are gone in any event.
Wimpy for a hamburger.......
You must be an old fart like me.😎
Try being self employed for 35 years. I paid in both parts of my SS but I still get the the same benefit as someone who has half of their SS paid by their employer.
2035 they are claiming it is gone. Something will happen to make sure it is gone before that
Heck, they ALREADY did! Inflation and shrinkflation have MORE than surpassed that "cost of living" raise!

Just sayin'
Joe made a mistake in the title line; he meant to say "SSA", short for Social Security Administration. "SSI" is short for Supplemental Security Income, also known as "welfare". Like most of us on the forum, Joe earned the monthly check he gets.
Most of us who live beyond the age of Social Security full entitlement will get back what we paid in the first 3 years. Live long enough, & that will seem to be a great bargain. Of course, like any other government check, everyone gets the same "Monopoly" money that comes off the printing press, backed by nothing; thank you, Joe Biden (& other Dems).
My estimate is that the Social Security "lock box" money ran out in the early 1980's. Bill Clinton claimed in the 1990's that he balanced the budget, but he lied. The best that we can hope for is that the system will stay functional until we get our share.

Retirement is great!!!!!
@nmyers you got me curious so I just looked it up, according to my statement the amount paid in by me and my employers over my career will be paid out to me in 6.5 years at the original amount I started receiving about 17 months ago, it will actually be less than 6.5 years if cost of living increases continue. SSA is the administration and SS Retirement payments is what I receive, As you allude to SSI is for people with low income and/or disabilities(welfare) and it is funded by general tax revenues not the social security taxes workers and employers pay in. Some folks can and/or will qualify for both...
Ya hurt my heart with that one. I know 3 or 20 on here older then moi.😥
Hmmm. I figured at your age, you could take it. LOL

SSA -vs- SSI, yep I know better, and I still do it all the time.
