is getting some bad press lately. What's going on? I was thinking of buying one but at $700. I don't want to make a mistake. Any thoughts guys?
It's too late for me, save yourself.

nope
I have owned and/or fired several in the past three years. I have not experienced any issues…
Milwaukee police dept. dumped 400000 of them. Im watching it, I sold one for $500. Fleet Farm had a special sale for $525. I still think its a darn nice gun.
Wait.............WHAT????????????.............Milwaukee PD dumped 400,000 Sig 320's?
Do tell........
Milwaukee is #31 on the most populated cities list..........577,222 citizens in the 2020 census. So you are saying that the PD owned slightly less than one Sig 320 per citizen and decided to dump them all?
There have been recent reports and videos of them going off on their own, trigger not touched. I think there was also some kind of recall or retrofit of a better striker disconnect or something.
Newington-based Sig Sauer is facing a new legal complaint from 20 individuals, including law enforcement officers and military veterans, who claim they were injured when the company’s pistols fired without a trigger pull.
The new suit is the latest in a string of similar cases that alleges Sig Sauer’s popular P320 striker-fired pistol has a design flaw that has led to unintentional discharges of the weapon, often while still holstered.
The company has repeatedly denied the P320 is unsafe. It has not yet responded to the latest legal filing, and didn’t respond to a request for comment.
In 2017, a prominent online gun shop pulled the P320 from its shelves, citing its concern that the weapon could fire if dropped from the wrong angle. That prompted Sig Sauer to issue what it called a voluntary upgrade of the weapon, which included hardware changes to the trigger and striker. In the latest lawsuit, plaintiffs allege that the newer-version of the P320 can also discharge when dropped or struck from certain angles.
The lead plaintiff, Fernando Armendariz, an agent with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, alleges that his department-issued P320 “suddenly and unexpectedly discharged while he was re-holstering it” in April 2021, resulting in a gunshot wound to his thigh. There are 18 other similar incidents claimed in the lawsuit.

The lawsuit also includes two members of the Milwaukee Police Department, Adam Maritato and Robert Parks, who were involved in an alleged drop fire incident in July 2020. During a confrontation with a suspect, Parks’s department-issued P320 allegedly fired while his hands weren’t on the weapon, resulting in a bullet wound to Maritato.
That incident, along with another alleged unintended discharge involving a Milwaukee officer, prompted the department to recently announce it intends to take the P320 out of service for its officers.
MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Police Department said it will replace every Milwaukee police officer’s service weapon, starting early 2023.
Police Chief Jeffrey Norman said the current weapon, the Sig Sauer P320, has a history of unintentionally discharging while in use with MPD. Three Milwaukee police officers have been injured since 2020.
Most recently, on Sept. 10, Milwaukee police said a 41-year-old police officer was injured when another officer’s gun went off while it was holstered. He was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries. In July 2020, Officer Adam Maritato was unintentionally shot in the leg by another officer’s holstered gun.
The pistol is allegedly prone to going off without the trigger being pulled, a defect that has led to dozens of injuries around the country over the past several years. The gun-maker has previously denied its pistol is defective, according to the Associated Press.
MPD said it plans the replace the Sig Sauer P320 with weapons made by Glock. The transition is expected to cost around $450,000.
The department said it wants to use money seized during various criminal investigations. That money would have traditionally been spent elsewhere. The Milwaukee Common Council will need to approve the use of those asset forfeiture funds to pay for the new weapons.
Norman said that replacing all weapons is the best course of action.
“This is not an easy decision, nor should it be. But, I believe this is the most productive and viable option,” said Norman. “I am very pleased to have the mayor and the MPA President and the other trustees and leadership supporting us on this.”
Milwaukee Police Association President Andrew Wagner said he’s satisfied with MPD’s plans to replace the weapons.
The Police Association filed a lawsuit against the city of Milwaukee to have the P320s replaced. Once the funding is approved, Wagner said the lawsuit will be dropped.
“I am very pleased to announce that as soon as the Common Council passes the allocation for the funding of the new gun, the Milwaukee Police Association will forgo the lawsuit against the city,” said Wagner.
Sig Sauer has settled at least one federal class action lawsuit involving the P320, involving pistols made before 2017, offering refunds or replacement guns to purchasers. The pistol has been sold to both law enforcement and civilians.
THEY ARE GETTING THEM NASTY OLD GLOCKS!!!!
Has anyone been able to duplicate these "unassisted firings" under controlled conditions?
Just curious.......as I'm not familiar with the internal mechanical layout of the SP320.
I heard that's how glove compartments can get shot.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Well I only repeated a number stated in the newspaper, but the point is well taken that they dumped all of them, whatever the number.
Easy @Mr. Perfect you will make somebody cry to moderators... never mind he's in jail...
I wave talked to a number of GIs and MPs who carry them and just about every one wished they had their Berettas back.
I do own & shoot both and consider the Beretta far superior in reliability, take down, accuracy , and most important; ability to clear a FTF or FTE.
