"New York Mayor Eric Adams has pushed back on the NYPD several times since he took office in January, including telling citizens to inform his office when they see police officers on cellphones on subways and telling officers not to talk to each other on the streets."
"The New York City Police Department is reportedly suffering through its highest rate of resignations in nearly two decades. About 1,225 police officers have resigned from their posts through November before reaching five years of service, per a report from the New York Times. It is the largest exit of officers from the NYPD since 2002.
GEE, I WONDER WHY THEY ARE ALL QUITTING????

I would imagine that they feel the same as someone in the military feels today, Eric Adams will leave you behind same as Joe Biden will leave you behind.
What goes on in the mind of people like this is quite astonishing. I suspect, nothing of any substance other than "showing authority" because he apparently isn't getting any nor he should for the complete malfunction of the NYPD. He spouted before the election "I have your back," now he has the liberal soup and drinking it like Nuntsy Peeloosy drinks vodka at Christmas.
I've always had a lot of respect for cops. The older cops. About 10 to 15 years ago I was seeing a different type of cop coming into our local law enforcement. I knew a few of these younger men. Men?? Two of the ones I knew personally, I was never able to understand how they passed the psych evaluation. I worked with these two and heard what came out of their mouths. They were slap plumb nuts!! A few of the younger ones I know are seriously pumped. It makes me think of the potential for 'roid rage incidents.
The way things are today I would think nobody would want to be starting a career in law enforcement, particularly in a blue city, knowing those officials above you will throw you under the bus so hard you will roll out the other side and off the cliff the bus was parked by.
Even Andy couldn't manage in todays societal/political environment.
Just me
I would love to see every LEO EMT Fireman jail guard ,sheriff and any related profesion to them
Take a few weeks off Not one answer a call or go on any runs or show up for work
have the phone calls routed to the politicians Private homes and offices
See how long it takes for them to change their mind on How they feel about crime and defunding
Our country is so far down the river of crap
I am not sure we will recover
I keep thinking of the old movies where the towns people fed up with the leaders show up with torches and pitchforks
In the mid 80's we started getting college grads who never worked a real job in their life. They were the laziest bunch who just wanted to hang out & BS all day. Somehow, just being there entitled them to a pay check. I actually gave one an award for "doing nothing" at a double homicide. He opened the door, saw they were obviously dead & closed the door. Then, before leaving for personal business, he told a rookie to do the report & stand guard until forensics arrived. Yup, an undisturbed crime scene.
It all started when the politicians decided that there needed to be more women in law enforcement. Not in the types of jobs women had always held, but out on patrol, on the streets, responding to calls, etc. It was soon learned that most women could not meet the training and qualification requirements so those got lowered, then lowered again, because we were told by the politicians that women had to pass and get into the force. So we got a lot of women out on the streets that just plain couldn't do the job, so we had to have two-officer teams with a male cop supporting the female. On a violence response, the male handled the pos while the female stood by filling out the paperwork and on the radio. The final straw was when females got pushed to the top of the promotions list because the politicians-in-charge determined that we needed more women in charge. So now it is impossible to get good male LEO candidates knowing that they will be supervised by incapable sergeants and lieutenants.
Very few people want jobs in law enforcement anymore, but it seems the ones that do want the jobs are not the type people that should have those jobs.Sort of like politics.
End of Korean and Veit Nam wars many veterans became LEOs. I feel that was the best era for law enforcement.
They had 2 man patrol units. There was a family among LEOs, a bond, a trust, support.
Then things changed.
The sign on my garage says, " We Don't Call 911".
Very old maxim-
"A city gets the police force it deserves.
And vice versa."
What id the Mayor is right?😱
Not possible,,He's a politician
Even a blind pig finds an acorn now and then.
Body cams should be on every LEO in the nation. Departments should weed out bad actors like the ones shown on Youtube acting like Rambo. With salaries of around 200K a year in many departments they should be able to weed out the bad ones and let them be parking meter enforcers. Qualified immunity needs flushed when LEO's do bad things to Citizens.
There is no way I would ever join a police force or become a GP doctor today.
NYC deserves to loose its force, they are treated like dirt by the Citizens and the Political Masters too.
