Good time qualifying with the other retirees yesterday. And an enjoyable lunch afterward with my good friend and brother Bill Webb. (Winston Bode) Thanks to Greenville PD training staff for their time, materials, and use of the facility!
I am second from the right. You can tell from the rubber boots it was a gray, gloomy, muddy, drizzly day. But we had a good time!

Sounds like a good time. From the rubber boots, I'd guess the b.s. got pretty deep.😂
Always!
dang every one had the same thought about the boots 👢 the BS was getting deep with all the stories 😁
sounds like you had a great time David good for you and all your extended family
hope you get to enjoy many more outings with them
I bet you didn't have to be told to " police" your brass.
That's pretty cool.
Beyond me why it is more difficult for retired law officers and more expensive than for the ordinary person. I go five years for ten bucks and for you its probably every year and fifty bucks?
There is no charge for the annual qualification. The Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act (LEOSA) actually requires a law enforcement agency to qualify retired officers and there is nothing in the law about a fee. It also doesn't specify that the agency is limited to its own retirees. There was a retiree from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office who shot with us for a few years. We would give the officer an affidavit, which was then sent to the original agency, who would issue the carry card.
In Texas, there is also no charge for a License to Carry a Handgun, formerly known as a Concealed Handgun License, for active duty cops, retired cops, prosecutors, and judges.
Up until this year, the PD provided ammo, but not this year. Supply chain problems.
It's a pretty good deal. Too bad it's only once a year.
I have gone back to San Diego for the qualification twice. Both times my name was not on the list (and yes I did register for the event). So I will register and attend the ADA County event this time. No more 1000 mile trips for nothing.

Not so lucky in Rock Co. Wis!
The law doesn't state that the agency CAN offer a retiree a chance to qualify; it states that the agency SHALL.
I wouldn't have recognized you in that group if you didn't tell us.
How's your step son doing? Is he in college yet?
Godson Bry is a sophomore in high school.
I figured he had to be getting up there.
