I'm liking this thread. 😁 Thanks to all, for the great contributions. 👍
The McRib contains an ingredient called Azodicarbonamide. Azodicarbonamide is an ingredient used to make plastic products and soft foam objects like yoga mats and shoes.
"Azobicarbonamide," just what I want in my Sammich. 🤔
Did I mention I do not go to McBarf's?
It's deee lishhhh
Tonight I made grilled chicken, roasted peppers, mozzarella cheese & arugula with balsamic dressing.
I just finished 3 more Awesome BLT's. 😁
Back about '79 I took a tour of a beef packing plant as part of a college class I was enrolled in. We saw the bins where the 'meat' went for Purina and for McDonald's. The Purina bin looked like it was getting the better bits! Cartilage, eyeballs, and buttholes went in the McD's bin. It's 100% pure beef, but they don't tell you what parts of the beef!
Before that day I used to regularly go get a couple 1/4 pounders for lunch. I haven't eaten in a McD's since that day!
You're missing out then
Reminds me of the red hot dogs that used to be sold at gas stations here. The best were at the truck stop on the south end of town. 3/$1, and so good, you'd almost get a tear in your eyes. Stopped one day with a buddy of mine, and as I recall, we downed 10 or 12 between the two of us. Talk about hit the spot, after spending the day up in the woods, cutting and hauling firewood. I sat back in my seat, about to burst, and asked "you know, as good as they taste, I wonder what they put in 'em". His answer? "Every part of the pig from the rooter to the tooter!"🤣
Pan fried SPAM or bologna with a hard fried egg, a thick slice of onion, a thick slice of medium cheddar, slathered with mayonnaise on pan toasted sourdough or whatever is available .
Mule
Most, except Philly Cheese steak.🤢 Or anything McD. Probably Club, but it changes hourly.
A fried 1/2" thick slice of bologna, with a fried egg, and sharp cheddar, on whole wheat with miracle whip. Next is a fried venison backstrap steak (left over) with a slice of tomato on a hamburger bun, miracle whip.
a good substitute for the "bacon" is bacon flavored spam, sliced thin and fried is almost as good as bacon and about half the price, plus it is the size of a hamburger bun if sliced on the big side. have a granddaughter who is a bacon monster, she likes the spam just as good if fried crisp............
On a side note, this song by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, rocks.
Oh yes. One of my favorites by them. Sadly the Nocturnals are no more. :(
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I was not aware of their "un-banding".
There was a little hole in the wall cafe near here that sold "The Mad Cow Special" Fried Brain sandwich. They are out of business now. Makes you wonder !😮
There's a jewish deli where I always get their signature sandwich called a yummy. Corn beef, pastrami and Swiss cheese heated lightly and served on rye😛
Obviously not a kosher deli.
Of course, I would add fired onions.
One of the ONLY things I miss from the NY/NJ area, are the killer Deli's and the Diners.
Good food, to be sure. 👍
You're right Ken. I spoke with someone last week who traveled to different areas for work. The food he missed was in North Jersey. We knew the same places & I agree, the food is the only thing I miss.
A hand breaded, fried pork tenderloins a fresh bun with pickles, ketchup , mustard and onions. Or a good tuna salad sandwich or fried bologna and fried egg.
grilled bratwurst on a hoagie roll, doused with hot mustard and a generous amount of authentic German sauerkraut
Used to buy those right on the ski slope. Man did those hit the spot.
Years ago there was a Christmas bazaar here at the clubhouse, or I should say a week or so before. Several food vendors, and one was a German woman that sold bratwurst, smoked sauerkraut, and some sort of spiced wine. She'd set up a little shack out by the front door. I swear you could smell it halfway across town. To this day I can't fully describe how good her food was, and it was only around $5 for a plate. I guess it was so good because it was authentic. Communication with her wasn't the easiest thing, either, but she'd get your change correct. Inside was a woman who only sold soup, and only one kind, a kind of sausage and cabbage soup. She'd bring a couple 5 gallon pots of it, and be sold out by noon. Where's that time machine when you need it?
"No Soup For You."
Anyone remember those Seinfeld episodes? Very Funny.
never watched seinfeld
Cooking a large lean Corned Beef in the Crock Pot on low, just now, last couple days. Potatoes, Carrots and Onions. Cabbage on top of it all at the end. (Like now.) Never seem to have left overs because I like it this way so much. 😁
(But) Thick sliced Corned Beef on Dark Rye bread with melted Swiss cheese. Stone ground mustard. Pretty good sandwich.
Pork roll, egg and cheese or Ring bologna and cheese
A reuben or braunsweiger for me.
Or venison summer sausage with mayo and cheddar
While I love me some hot French Dip on a lightly toasted roll, in Honolulu there was a restaurant at the Edgewater Reef Hotel (alas, long gone) Their Chief's Hut Club Sandwich- toasted Hawai'ian sweet bread, made from scratch mayo, thick crisp bacon, 1/4 inch thick turkey breast, lettuce, tomato, served with Maui potato chips and cole slaw. BEST club sandwich ever.
cold left over fried catfish on white with ketchup and merican cheese.
Ooohh.............................you made me think of it. Leftover meatloaf w/ketchup sandwich. Preferebly on wheat.
Mmmnnn.............................Mmmnnn..........................
oh yes, had one those just the other day.
A Cuban sandwich but with bread and butter pickles instead of dill.
I'm seriously trying to think of a sandwich I don't like. My favorite is the one in my hands at the moment. The hardest thing for me is to look at the menu at Jersey Mike's and try to pick just one...
Here is a good one
toe cheese and navel smeg.......on sour dough with mayo and taco bell fire sauce.
Quiznos black Angus steak on Rosemary bread
Since I started this thread, I have been eating a lot of BLT's. Gonna have to revise my favorite to one (or 3) of those. 😘
*edited for spelling.
