Dealing with a 2 prong lamp plug - which spade is neutral - wide or narrow?
It's too late for me, save yourself.

Wide. Small blade is hot.

Thanks guys.
Does it matter on a lamp?
The lamp don't know no difference. Don
It will..........if the lamp has a metallic housing/frame/finish.
Hope this helps.
"House Hold Wiring". We still have the old knob & tube wires running up walls and ceilings covered with thin wood covers in the old part of the house😉
I'm concerned because this is a 1930's era brass desk lamp. My fear is that the threaded part of the socket may be attached to the frame. I'll get my ohm meter and see. Unfortunately, rain, snow, and -7 tomorrow. This may take a while since the meter is 100 yds back of the house in the shop. To be continued...
asop, I remember my grand parents house in Indy had knob & tube. I remember the vertical runs from the main horizontal run in the basement has wire wrap junctions. No wonder flickering lights were not uncommon.
1930's? That would be an unlikely scenario. For that thing it really won't matter which contact goes where. In fact, most modern day plugs it won't make a difference.

Not in so many words.

Good point Mr. Perfect. With the old style pugs either side could be hot so the socket must be insulated from the brass body. I think I'll ohm it out anyway since I need to go to the shop before the snow comes tomorrow.
Thanks guys
