300 blackout who hunts with one

I have rifles of most all calibers for hunting. I do not have a 300 blackout but am considering one a mini 14 for a shack gun. I hunt mostly whitetails with max. range out of the shack of maybe 150 yards mostly 100 or less. Would it do the job or am I heading in the wrong direction. Anybody use one and is it effective at all?

If you keep the ranges at 150 max and good shot placement it will do the job In my opinion three is better choices out there for deer I had to do a lot of tracking with good solid hits with the 300 blackout
Thanks, wasnt what I wanted to hear lol.
Nailed a 'yote with one at about a hundred yards with a 125grn pill. Blew a lung out of its chest.
Your safe already has a suitable solution for your shooting need. Not sure how you should scratch the “get another gun” itch.
Do you REALLY want to know?
The 300AAC/BO is equal to the venerable 30/30 to about 100 yards. This can be extended a bit with proper ammo choices.
Grand Daughter uses a 300 BO 'pistol' (10.5" barrel and suppressor) with sub-sonic ammo and she kills deer effectively out to 100 yards. The report is similar to a pellet rifle discharging.
We've made one shot kills out to 150 yards using FIOCCHI 125 grain SST ammo and this would be my recommendation for rifle length barrels.
MO 'alternative methods' season is open and we're using the well placed deer houses during the -0* weather but deer aren't moving. When it warms up, it's going to be 'whack em and stack em' for 2-3 days and the 300BO is the primary tool.
You can do the same thing with a 9mm. Don
A 22 can kill a deer but should it? I have a 300 BO and I would not consider it humane hunting to use it on a deer. The 300 hammer from Wilson combat would be a better choice.
9mm, ha ha, won't be anything left to eat with a mid shot to a deer sized animal.
Lol, I have a takedown Ruger carbine in 9mm, maybe I should use that.
Rule #1... Use enough gun.
If you have read my long-ago article on the .30 Herrett, you will discover that the 125 Ballistic Tip is THE bullet for this use.
" I have a 300 BO and I would not consider it humane hunting to use it on a deer. "
As I said, the 300BO is basically equivalent to a 30/30 up to 100 yards. Are you saying the 30/30 is an 'inhumane' deer hunting cartridge??????????? Have you seen the damage a sub-sonic LeHigh 200 grain monolith 4 petal hollow point can do?
Hunting with the 300BO requires more self-control than hunting with a 300 super blaster but it is NOT inhumane within it's use & range parameters.
My son hunts with 300 BO. Where he has his stand farthest shot is 50 yards, three deer this year all one shots, same prior years.
I don't see why not to use it for deer. Many youth and ladies deer hunt with .223, 243, and even 22-250 up here. My wife uses a .270
Think Ill try it, can always sell it.
Used within its limitations and the correct bullet it will do the job quite nicely.
I have killed many deer with a 22-250. I would have no problem using a 300 BO.
I would but I would but I would rather use something else. I don't hunt anymore but I was really into it for about 30 years. I hunted all over the US for just about every type of animal and IMO for a clean kill with in 200-300 yds a 308 is about where I want to be in the horsepower department. In the east where shots are close it should be fine, like a 30-30 or a 303 savage.
