My neighbor's kids, and friends. Creeks don't freeze up too often around here.

Where are their parents?!?!?
At the house, 150 feet away.
9 inches and building in front of the house!
Looks like they're having fun!
Brings back memories of sliding around on the pond. Break the ice for the cattle to drink and then out we would go to slip and slide around.
First year up here for #1 and her family we had a cold snap where the pond froze solid enough for the grandkids to have some sliding fun. Scared the bejeebers out of the SIL. He finally ventured out. Had to explain that should ice break it was only about knee deep. Water was low and it was the small shallow pond, not the fish pond.
Had some kids fall thru the ice about 25 years ago . Eastern nc never gets cold enough for it to freeze solid enough to do that. Fire dept managed to fish them out safely.
That's a line from my wife. When I hear that, my response is " When we were that age, we might have been riding our bicycles across a railroad tresle with a train coming behind us." Moms never knew the better.
I'd much prefer a shin whackin from the hockey sticks over the golf clubs.....Either way, great pic of kids being kids and having fun the way they should...
I lived in western NC back in the mid to late 70s.We had several very cold winters when creeks and ponds would freeze. When the cattle would get out of the pastures it would always be the coldest.icy, snowy nights. The mountain winters is one of the reasons I don't live there anymore.
Looks like Ice is rare enough they don't have skates.
Fun times to be had
