Another Problem in California
I am thinking about ordering this book. I am terrible about buying books. I have several I am reading now and more waiting, but this looks interesting.
"While debates about border security continue to rage, and with stories about legal and illegal marijuana in the news daily, Hidden War forces an astonishing dose of reality into the public consciousness.
California game warden Lt. John Nores, Jr., now retired, has been at the forefront of an under-reported battle against thousands of Mexican drug cartel members who grow toxic marijuana on U.S. soil, frequently on public lands, and sometimes remarkably close to population centers. Who would guess that this struggle is even going on, or that game wardens are on the front lines?
Not only does black market marijuana cultivation undermine legitimate growers, but it endangers lives. The cartels, armed and ready to defend their cash crop, pose a huge threat to hikers, hunters, bikers, bird watchers and everyone else who enjoy public lands and wild places. Further, trespass marijuana growers divert waterways and use banned chemicals that render the plants toxic. And even after these criminals are long gone, they leave behind an environmental disaster that may never be fixed.
It's estimated that black market sales of marijuana comprise up to 90% of all weed sales annually. California is at the hub of this problem, and the effects reverberate across the U.S.
This is John Nores' personal account of his time leading the elite California Special Operations Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET). Hidden War brings to life the firsthand story of how America’s unsung heroes are fighting to keep our wild lands safe."

that goes on around here also, though probubly not to the degree/size of that mentioned in the book. We have a lot of Westvaco owned land and dealers will plant crops on it and the public hunting areas. usually late summer the national guard will use their helicopter with game wardens on board to fly over and look for the patches. They claim they can use the infared detecters as the marijuana plants put off more heat than the surrounding weeds, or native plants. I have a buddy who is a flight medic in the reserves and routinly flies on these searches, and they find plots all over maybe size of football field. then they will send in the wardens and state/county to cut and dispose of the plants......
A sanctuary state with an open border governor and an open border POTUS, seems this is what they like in DEMOCRAT controlled CA.
The game warden TV shows have shown the same exact problem. It's not just Cal.
Capitalism will always be one step ahead of law.
CA has plenty of problems and number one is Gavin Newsome. Now they want to tax people who are moving out of the state. I suppose the money will be used to pay reparations.
The problem with California is that it is full of Californians.
Best to keep all the Californians there & not let them spread their sicko ways.
That is a problem created by California.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I would bet the farm ( if I had one LOL )
pretty boy and the left minions would have a open arms policy to the illegal pot growing if they could just figure out a way to tax them
maybe like amnesty and citizenship to all the growers if they just pay taxes to Kal
money buys a lot, especially politicians and favors.
I will say this. I do know a lot of GOOD Californians. Just like most places where the big DEM controlled cities dictate to the rest of the state, California is basically no different.
Hey Ditch-Runner, they need to get the funds to pay for all that reparation somehow.
It's California..'Nuff said...
It has not been a problem for me, haven't smoked it for decades, and I don't go to Cali much at all.
Thank you sir for being rational and objective in your comment about Californians. I reside in California but consider myself a decent law abiding man. We mountain dwellers living and working at the base of an active volcano here in the wilds of North Eastern California are a far cry from the sissie WOKE, BLM, Rainbow etc. cry baby * mouths living in the states four largest cities. And, I do take exception to the ignorant members who lump all of us in the same category with the afore mentioned groups. Eddie, life member VFW, NRA, Republican Party Retired L.E. reservist and above all, a Logger!
P.O. I vote republican, but the voting is rigged and the swamp is deep.
The problem with California is all the Democrats who moved there from other states. It was a great place and a Republican stronghold when President Reagan was the Governor.

Understand this. I have nothing against you on a personal level. For what it's worth, one of my best friends lives in Fort Bragg. I fully support your carrying a torch for everything decent and righteous, and anyone else there that does the same. After dealing with the lowest common denominator (in my opinion anyway) from that state for several decades, any time I see the word "California", in almost any context imaginable, the first thing that comes to mind is nothing on a particularly positive slant.
I'm pretty sure we bumped into a grow field in the national forest here in Missouri while 4 wheeling 2 summers ago. I saw multiple industrial hoses hoses going into a cleared section. We didn't investigate further. The majority of my off road club are armed while on the trail.
Sad to say it's probably Humboldt County you are reading about. Marijuana is out of hand, but hopefully the market will fall. I see some shady characters in town and they reek of green weed. I smell I cannot handle. Sadly we have plenty of industry in Humboldt County but about 30 years ago the Democrats ruined it with the earth first movement. We had mills, logging and plenty of fish. But you look around and it's hard to see. I believe some think we need pot to survive but then again there probably Tye Dyed Dope Smoking Slackers themselves.
Ok I'm done ratting.

When we logged the Hayfork/Hyampom forests back in the 80's most of us carried 870's in our trucks. We were warned then to stay on route and not wander.
Thank you for recognizing us guerillas.

I am a Californian by birth. I was raised as a Constitutional Conservative. Please don't put us all in the same boat. We are fighting for our beautiful state.

Well I guess that explaining myself a bit yesterday did no good whatsoever, so I'll just go ahead and bow out of the thread, before the whole thing gets rehashed all over again. I'll make note to avoid any topics involving California in the future, so I can spare everybody what amounts to nothing more than my opinion.
I have no problem hashing out Commifornia..... In fact I would love to leave. I'm not putting solar panels on my Studebaker 😉

Nice. A friend of mine restored a '49 a couple years ago.
Hey Ken - and in all of the places to find me, defending California. As much as I'm trying to finish up building and move to Texas, I just had to point out the it was thanks to all of the other states that California changed to Democrat. In the mid to late nineties California had a surge of Democrats move to CA for a "better life". A life that existed because we were a Republican state. From lower taxes to a booming economy, in great part to Gov. Reagan and Pete Wilson, Democrats left the states their party had ruined, without recognizing that it was THEM who were to blame for what THEY had done to their own state.
So these members from outside CA should be apologizing for sending us their Democrats. Trust me, we would love to send the trash back to where it came.

To tell you the truth I think I could safely blame California's decline on the 60's movement

I guess you handle walking in on a illegal pot grow same as we did walking in on someones still here in the Carolinas.Back out fast and keep your mouth shut about what you saw.
We have a lot of missing people here...

Amen and Same Here! Eastern side of the state is typically very conservative. The Dem population centers of San Fran, LA, and San Diego have the numbers. Many of them are leaving--some I know are staying only because of their established businesses
You got a Stude...???
