New 1911

Well new to me anyway. Been a few years since I’ve bought a gun. Ended up getting a Ruger SR1911 full size. LGS had two of them from the same owner. 1 was a 5” the other a Commander. Neither looked to even be fired except from the factory. He traded them in against some high end rifle. Got it for $749 plus Uncle Sugars cut. Ordered a 1791 owb holster and mag carrier off Amazon. Now to wait until it’s out of jail 🙄 I also want to get some Wilson Combat mags. Been wanting a nice 1911 for a while and the price was definitely right.

Nice!
I would call it a winner. A proven design built by a company that is known to build a well made firearm. Congratulations.
Well at least for me yes. My safe has more Ruger’s than any other brand.
Just a lil' bit @austin20, I don't have that one... yet, but I do have a couple SR9s full size I like and a whole lot of revolvers...😁
Very nice, congrats
One of the best I’ve had on my bench, actually the best internal finish guns I’ve ever had my hands on.
Also, try at least one Ed Brown mag.
I have the commander, it is a very good quality example, digests any 45 I have loaded from lead targets to +p 185 JHP's, not at all fussy , groups almost anything very nicely, I only needed to change out the trigger to a medium-short sized one, exchanged the grip safety due to an extremely loose fit, then added Novak sights , and Black G-10 sunburst grips along with skip-checkered Ed Brown main spring housing for looks and a little better gripping surface.
Best of all it only cost me $600. at a show a few years back, NIB. So spending a little more to make it "perfect" for me didn't hurt at all.
The wife bought me a Commander model for Christmas the first year of production.I have been impressed with it and I think you will be.
I have the SR1911 and a Colt Gold Cup National Match stainless. I can't tell one whit of difference when shooting the two. The Colt might have slightly better sights.
Also have the little brother. It's LOUD.
Very nice....I wish they had models with ambi-safeties. I have shot a couple examples of Ruger 1911s and liked them.
nice looking pistols
when Ruger came out with them it was struggle a big one 😉 not to buy one
I've had one for years, it usually goes with me to the range because it always works
I like the SR1911. While nothing really sets it apart from comparable 1911s, it runs smoothly, and mine has never had an issue with either HP or ball ammo.

For me it was also nice to find one that’s basically brand new but not $1000.
Best 1911 I have owned, including Colt, Kimber and Remington. Ya done good.
I still want a Ruger 1911
Me too, I want the commander ruger41 left behind.
I have one from the first year, don't think I've put 100 rounds thru it , was thinking real strong about putting it up for sale but after reading this maybe I'll have to get it out and do some shooting with it
You could call The Range in Yakima and see if they still have it. They are open Tue-Sun. They also had a used but in cherry condition S&W 586 for 7 Ben Franklins an 1 U.S. Grant.
Thanks, I'll think on that. I'm about 4-1/2 hours from Yakima.
They can always shop it to your ffl lol.
Bought one when they first came out. Fired many rounds thru mine W/O a problem. IMHO and considering the features you get when you buy one, they are real bargains!
Unlike a Colt product which costs double, mine even came with a spare mag.
Brought it home from ffl jail. 1791 Holster & mag carrier arrived too.
doesn't look housbroken to me, look how it scratched the table, you should probubly shoot the thing...........
Let's see, it's a handgun and you're in WA. It should be out of jail by the time we have another POTUS.

While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I was surprised. It took 6 working days. I sure miss the old days here when if you had your cpl you could buy and take home the same day.
Just one of the many reasons I moved. 6 days? That seems pretty short. Last handgun I bought in WA took 10 days just for the state approval to come back.
