'Life Alert' or similar system ?
Comments
Not yet anyway......
When I get to the point of needing one, I won't... need one, let's just put it that way.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Not yet.
A tracking collar may be needed in the not too far off.
Looked into it for an aging relative, but it didn’t make enough sense for their situation. If they had been living alone I suspect we would have purchased a subscription.
Had one for my mother . She used it several times when she had fallen . Definitely worthwhile investment
I helped my grandfather get one several years ago. It was a lifesaver for him while living alone. The only problem was he would 'Test" it just to make sure...
I am not ready yet for one myself.
Butchdog , If a fenced in yard is not an option you might want to look at the apple air tag or something similar . several brands of gps enabled trackers are on the market for dementia patients if that is the issue We got the fenced yard for my mom in law and that worked well for a while till she had to be placed ibn a care facility.
wife's grandma use to test hers also.
Some years ago we bought one at Wally World for $50? There's no monthly fee as it calls 5 numbers (family & friends) in secession until someone answers. Of course, the phone land line is $46 / month.
No Dementia yet. Just forgetful.
Could've used one, a time or two, much earlier in life........but hindsight is always 20/20.
Time will tell......about a future need. Just keep the mind and body active.
No, but I have fallen and when I woke up, I didn't know where I was.
I'm paying for one. (for my mother)
One of my Meals on Wheels deliveries (95 yo lady) was wearing one when she fell in the shower. When the FD arrived, they found the outside doors locked, and the hidden key wasn't where she told them it would be. So they had to force the door.
Donna got me one. Well actually it was a shock collar. Had the damn button in one hand and the insurance papers in the other!!!!
We had one for my dad back in 2019. Old coot rarely used it and when he did, he had a tendency to set it off accidentally. I think the paramedics got to know him on a first name basis and were bringing him dinner at one point. :D

My wife and I look out for each other. So far it's working out.

84, if you mom is doing as good as she was a few years ago, she can take care of you if something goes south.
I do not have one and really know no one who does but I just have to share this. Ever since reading about the way Mark C died, every time I take a shower, I have these thoughts about him. Just how easy it is to slip and fall doing something that we all do on a daily basis! I have become one who now takes "baby steps" in and out of the walk in shower!
Pretty sure if I lived alone, I'd also look a bit closer at one of those Life Alert gadgets or something similar!
Maybe it's just me.........but, over the last few years, it seems there has been more than a few notable/famous people who have "died due to complications, following a fall at home".
BTW.......I definitely practice "baby steps" on hard packed snow, and especially ice. Heck.......if you can.......wait til it melts!!
I don't know about ya'll......but I don't bounce like I use to.😟
michigan is proposeing the * insert
As a suggestion, An Apple watch can do the same thing.
Every time I get one my kids come over and remove the batteries😫
N O P E !!!!!
I do concede to carrying my phone constantly (unless I forget, in which case I get grouched out).
That might good, for now I like your collar with the "Fluffy" tag.
Lost me there.
Nope never have never will along with hearing aides my wife wants me to get.
Everyone knows where Fluffy lives, they would get you home.
Depending on the situation, some of the new smart devices (watches if they may not carry phone) could substitute as they can detect falls and such. For dementia patients mentioned above, if the person has a cell phone, tracking can be enabled if they are good about taking it with them.
