I did a lot of the same except in the 1970's and 80's well Ok still do 😁😲

I remember doing that in the 60's , good times
Dawsonville considers itself to be the town where NASCAR was invented. They have a NASCAR museum there.
I have been there a few times some of my wife's family lived there and close by but that was 30 yrs ago . I think some of their kids and grand kids still live in the area but have not seen them or been back after her aunts and uncles passed on
At that time I was a big Nascar fan and Bill Elliot was a favorite of mine i think was from there At that time it was just a one horse town .
I seem to think they may been a local place named after him in town or at least had some of his memorabilia Hanging up in and outside
But my memory is a bit foggy now about the area.

They call that hooning now. It's a huge problem in Dayton Ohio now. I never did that, but I did leave a lot of rubber on the road back in my misspent youth.

Thanks D-R, I enjoyed that. I did plenty of donuts in the snow, but never on bare roads. No way I could have afforded that first guy's tire bill.
We were into speed and acceleration, not spinning in circles chewing up expensive tires. There was a 3 mile strip of paved interstate higway that literally went nowhere because the next state hadn't connected to it yet. Totally deserted except for us.
Ya majority 99% of my time was straight line all the localcops knew me by name and all were great guys who would tell us settle down or get out town for the night
The show american graffiti sums up my younger yrs . All the characters a little but Millner was the closest . Good times and defently different times
In the winter and snow we did the doughnuts at the store parking lot I worked at
I remember the owners and manager just grinning and shaking their heads watchingme and my buddies and the customers ofcourse as they were in the parking lot also
We had a few roads just on the edge of town to race if serious .most were just red-light to red-light
For a couple years the city made a real nice 4 lane straight for the most part with a rr track marking the start line
At that time their was a grainery and a couple trucking company's on it
So it was like having a track for us now it's packed with busness
We had a legitimate drag strip about 5 miles from town i would guess it started in the 1950's we spent countless hours their
They closed down decades ago apx late 1970,s mabe very early 80'S. A gravel pit took over the area sad day when they closed
Running open headers and slicks was common I still have my old 69 camaro from the good old days
Fondly reminds me of back in '58 I built and installed a 301 mouse in my '53 Stude Lowery coupe. 6 cly w/ OD and 30mpg when I bought, with the help of a 4.56 and trips I managed to get that down to less than 10.

One of my older brothers was into 1\4 mile drag strip racing back in the early 70's. I would tag along to spectate those "Daisy May" type gals that seemed to be plentiful at these events.
And the cars were pretty cool too! 😁

Honest when I was younger my car was number 1 for my money and time to go too over any gal as strage as it seems i truly loved the gals but I truly loved racing and going fast just a bit more
When my wife and I were married in 1978 I told her I had my camaro 1st and it would be the last to go lol as a joke
that was 46 yrs ago still have them both oh I did buy a second 69 camaro about 15 yrs ago I still have it and the 1st one
also but just the one wife lol
I never had to chose and glad I never will
I know I sure would miss my wife lol (Just kidding )
Many muscle cars have passed thru my owner ship over my years I truly wish I had all them back
Muscle cars were plentiful in my area. Everyone was into drag racing . Lots of stop light to stoplight action . Never did much of the donut stuff.
