I know I'm not normal. I don't watch TV, I don't eat in fast food restaurants, I hang out on the GBer Forums, I mean you get what I'm getting at.
How does a young couple with two kids afford to eat at McDonalds??
Seriously. My concept of McDonalds was always a cheap place to eat that had good fries. As I said I don't do fast food restaurants but I about fell out of my car when I ordered a Big Mac and fries and the girl said "That will be $9.46."
In todays world there are so many people who can't cook and eat out for every meal. How are people affording this??

Well this probably won't make you feel any better about it, but here in Michigan, they're accepting EBT cards. Isn't that special?
Stimulus and other free money from the Dem's....
Yesterday, I bought two Subway 12" subs and a 16 oz Coke. $20.
In my car mechanic's shop there's a sign that says "We do quick work, good work, and cheap work. You can pick any two."
With fast food, it's exactly the same.
What we spend (rarely) at fast food places now days, use to buy us a nice sit down steak dinner with the fixins
I'm old enough to remember the Golden Arches offering a burger, fries, and drink for 88 cents. For the change from a dollar, you could get their hot apple pie turnover for dessert.
Foot long tuna and chips and a drink was $16 yesterday at subway. I agree
This is what happens when minimum wages rise.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
MR P nailed it.
Well...........perhaps one of these days people will realize the consequences of Minimum Wage Laws.
With all the free money the govt. passed out, I don't know why the U.S. isn't like Germany after WWI, when you could not physically carry enough banknotes to buy a pair of shoes. It just amazes me that we have never had hyper-inflation like so many other countries.
Thanks JOE!
Ain't inflation great. I remember when inflation was near 2%, under a REAL president!
Just give it a few more months!
That is EXACTLY where we are headed, as fast as we can! Thanks to FJB and the commies and the rhinos........and all the sheeple that keep voting them into office!
For $2 more I can go to a real restaurant & get quality food.
I have stopped an eat at McDonalds in the past, but not anymore. The last two times I stopped there at the pay window the person had a stud in their tongue and piercings on their face, I couldn’t understand what they were saying. The one that was handing out the food at the pick up window had nose rings, lip rings and piercing all over her face. I’m sorry but that just takes my appetite away and turns my stomach. Anymore if I stop somewhere and the people waiting on me have more metal in their face than in the bumper of a 57 Buick I leave.
Patience! It's comin'!
Yeah what happened to the days went I went to McDonalds with 25 cents and got a hamburger and fry. For the reasons you stated and my health I can't remember when I ate at a McDonalds.
I remember for a couple dollars you got a bag of food going to McDonald's
A couple years back I stopped at a Kentucky fried (pigeon ) chicken
It had been years since I had been to one
For a bucket of chicken and a couple sides it was just shy 40.00 i have not been back
I think back to when I was a kid
On super rare and I mean rare ocassions my parents would take us to a fast food place
One was scotties? 10 cent hamburgers
One place was Clancy s a local fast food place before McDonald's ever hit the area I think there's were 15 cents
We had a friches but must have been too expensive as we never went
I liked Wendy's when they came out but I was already working and buying my own fast food by then I can't remember the last time I was there
“Cheap” fast food “or grocery food is a thing if the past not ever to return. I eat out far more than most of you and take your pick nothing is under $10 for a combo. Our city tax rate is 10% which doesn’t help.
Living in the old days are gone and so is the economy most likely.
As I was reading this earlier I happened to be standing in McDonald's.... We rarely eat there, my mom wanted a Mc Double and a Ice Tea. I had a Mc Chicken and a large water. Over 6 bucks. Not to long ago the McDouble and McChicken were a buck and so was a large drink. Even a large coke or ice tea as gone up... Even the coffee is no longer a dollar.

"We are here to make money, not friends. " My problem is I'm running out of money.
Rocky, I’m either older than you or you paid too much. 😃
1962 menu ,,,,,,,
Kannoneer, I remember when my late dad showed me a $1,000,000 mark he brought back over WW-II. It probably wouldn't have bought a loaf of bread back then in Munich.
And you know those hamburgers that were 39 cents not to long ago? 1.99 now. Wow

If that hurt your feelings. Don't go into Five Guys. Three burgers and two fries $54.00.
One thing about the Kung Flu. I learned how to be a better cook. Not near as good as Ken, but OK.
When you have an under-educated labor force, that thinks they can actually TELL potential employers what the minimum salary they will accept is...............well...........
Here we are............😖😖
I last ate in a McDonalds in the spring of 1979. My college Beef Production class took a tour of a beef processing plant and I saw what was being sent to McD's for people to eat. The stuff going to Purina was better. I don't imagine it's gotten any better.
Pretty soon it will be cheaper to just eat the money.
"Kannoneer, I remember when my late dad showed me a $1,000,000 mark he brought back over WW-II"....................I'll raise you 1/2 billion 😉
I used to enjoy going to taco bell. Then my daughter got a job there. She told me all the nasty stuff that goes on there, and that ended my desire for their food.

I went to McDonalds and got a cheeseburger combo the first time in years and I got the 9 dollar plus sticker shock, but I had forgot how good the fries were.I guess fast food will do like the tobacco industry. The less people use it,the higher the price will go so profits will remain the same. When I started smoking cigarettes were 25 cents a pack here in the Carolinas.I quit when they went to 50 cents a pack.I saw them advertised for 8 dollars a pack at a Dollar General the other day.
When I was in high school .it did not matter so many kids serving food let's just say didn't respect the handling or care of the food
One popular place in town still there since early 1900's the kids all bragged about adding to any Leo order and all would spit into the big soup of the day pot every time they walked by
But the the government standards allow a precentage of roden hair and fecal matter in everything we eat as unavoidable
never been to one but every processing plant has horror stories No matter meat or produce
I guess we're all still alive and best to not think about what we have and will eat
Or we would never eat
As for me I did witness some I am guiltyfor not saying anything as a kid
b biggest confession and one time I regret now
When manwich just came out I was working at a store on stock night we had a case of dog food come in all the labels had fallen off . Not uncommon next aisle over a new case of manwich came in labels had not stuck to the cans
Let's just say some how the two cases got mislabeled as manwich and dog food
Seems as though I've attracted a "disagree"........but it's a free country........mostly.
If you would sir......state what portion of my previous post is untruthful, and/or give your position/reasoning pertaining to the subject.
Thank You
62vld2042, I went back up and looked at your comment. I'm guessing the wrong 'key' was punched.
Sometimes those buttons get clicked by mistake. I have done it myself in the past.
Yeah, I chalked it up to fat fingers when I got a disagree for giving condolences.
Here, I gave you another thumbs up. Maybe that will offset the one disagree. 😁
Recently bought a few McDonald's Filet of Fish sandwiches, was shocked that they're only about 3.5 inches in diameter now and about 3 bites with the highest price I've ever seen. I remember when they had actually served large sandwiches and not this trimmed back Biden Economics crap going on! Sad!

Been there, done that. Glad there’s a way for a user to undo a disagree they mistakenly pressed.
(edited…now that I’m educated)
Dang…I feel pretty foolish…didn’t want to add another disagree so never tried it. Thanks for the tip - and glad it worked @KenK/84Bravo … otherwise you'd have another disagree.
