Discount after sale?

I don't mean to look a gift horse in the mouth but a seller just told me in an email to subtract $500 off the final bid price of an item I brought to discount the taxes, fees and FFL fee. Payment is through USPS money order.
I was thankful and surprised but now that I think about it, it seems suspicious?

I'm starting to wonder if I'm falling head first into a scam, cause it does seem too good to be true.
Does anyone know why this seller would discount $500 off an bidded item? Is it a scam?
I don't want to be rude to a kind jesture but I don't want to be scammed.

Sure sounds fishy to me.
Maybe try calling the seller?
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
What should I say or ask?
Never mind, I thought you had questions.

Ask them if they did the discount. Looks like a legit seller but things can be hacked.
I called and verified that the phone number was indeed the seller. Verified that he indeed want to discount the final price... I guess he's just a really nice guy? Am I paranoid?
To be honest it sounds very suspect... maybe something was found out by seller after the fact? I don't know, but you pays your money, you take your chances... Let's us know how it turns out, but you are violating the guidelines for posting by calling out a seller so if you think it is not legit get GB Support involved. I'm closing this post, but you can post again and tell us how it turns out... Good luck.
