SHTF conversation I over heard recently.

So this one guy says he's a country boy, he can survive!! I know this guy. His survival will mostly be based on the fact he can live off the fat around his middle for maybe 3 or 4 months!!🤣 This same "Country Boy" has never milked a cow or a goat, never gathered an egg from a chickens nest, never has grown a garden, never killed and plucked any type of fowl, somehow once shot a small deer but had to take it to a processor because he didn't even know how to gut it. This ol' boy continues to prove his ignorance for at least another 10 minutes before, thankfully, he left the gun shop.

After he left this other guy speaks up and says the woods will be filled with hunters just as dumb as the guy who just left so he wont hunt deer, he will hunt deer hunters.😁 Said they would be easy to hunt, easy to kill, chunk em up into stew meat, add lots of garlic and black pepper and once you are hungry that deer hunter will taste just fine!

So after this guy leaves the gun shop the owner looks at me and said "Wow!! If everything goes splat I ain't leaving my house no way in Hell!!" "That crazy sucker was serious!!"

We both agreed. Staying at home is the smart thing to do!!!!! Yup, there is a whole lot of crazy that will come to the fore front if things go splat!!

They walk amoung us talk is cheap

I know I am old out of shape and no way I could play such games

Why I will just stay put

Like the famous line every one knows

"man's got to know his limits "

I had a coworker years ago his wife got hooked up with a pepper i think was a Friend of a family

My buddy told me he came home one day she had padlocked one of the rooms

Had it full of long term foodand had lots more on order even bought a couple guns he already had guns but she wanted more and to be hers

She went as far as buying sling shots and bags of ball bearings to shoot small game with she went in hook line and sinker into prepping busness It's good to be prepared I have no issues with that and glad people look after themselves

However the list he told me she had stock piled was huge And yes he had access to it all

He lives in the country like we do and not far from me me and were 40 miles or so from any big city and he has the advantage his family owens lot of land and woods

he tried to explain to his wife how over board she was going but she would have none of it .

I know she divorced him not long after we talked about her new found passion of prepping

That was almost 10 yrs ago I have not seen him and never met her so no ending to the story

I personally refuse to be a victim. Can someone take me out?? Absolutely. But if I see them coming in time to arm myself there will be no mercy shown. If someone is coming at me he has two choices. Get me first or pray I miss. Do I know that at my age and how crippled up I am missing is a real possibility. Hell yes!! That doesn't mean I wont try!!! I hope muscle memory is real and the 100,000+ rounds I've put down range in my life gives me an edge!!

Well, that settles it. I'm gonna start eatin' LOTS more spicy hot peppery stuff. If they get me, I'm gonna burn my way out!

Unless you can protect your “stash” 24/7 (a near impossible task for a normal family), there isn’t much point to wasting your time and money on building up some big hoard.

Lots of those types. Remember,Hank Jr. told them they could.

I had people tell me they didn't have to prepare. They'd just come to my house to get what I had. I told them I'd be glad to have them stop by & give me some target practice. 😧

I've been 'hunted' before. I'm still here and 'they' ain't. Don't need to say more.

The idea that you can live off the land might be correct if it is only you and 3 or 4 others occupying say 5 or 6 thousand acres . Imagine 20 or 30 thousand others all hitting the woods at the same times to hunt . How long is the wild game going to last?

With my health and mobility issues home is where I will are my stand .

Thats what the evil ones did in "The Road". Even kept a small herd of 'em locked in the cellar and fed 'em left overs until it was their turn in the pot.

I really hope it does not come down to that

When the show prepers was going big on TV

It was amazing to see what some of the people (like a lot of things more money showed up ) had built and their plans not to mention the supplys and e trees fortresses that had built

Good luck to them is all I can add

We know the big cities with in weeks will be a nothing but countless dead

As they head out into the suburbs it will start getting more real by the time they get to the country and then the truly in the out back country most will have perished .

I think by then most of the groups will have banned together in the country and shared what they have be it food guns or just tactial knolage .

Just look at the number of true hunters and woodsman and the skill sets of so many of the military people

Joins up they would be a force to be reckoned with but even then one or two air strikes and then just a huge hole in the ground

Peope will survive out of luck or by being the few the government takes underground for the duration

I see no good out come no matter how it goes for 90 % or more of humans

"Yeah but the zombies... what do we do about the zombies..??"

Since ZOMBIES aren't really people, I guess I'm allowed to say this. It's no big stretch of imagination to simply de-populate the zombies(especially in rural areas). They're slow and don't see/smell/hear very well so not as difficult as coyotes or even possums, right?

But isn't that wrong.. we're not supposed to shoot liberals...???

Another SHTF book is Lucifer's Hammer. A comet hits earth. It follows several people before (prepping), during (bugout) and after (keeping what you have).

I sorta agree with the 2nd fellow, I have a few fat neighbors I don't like either, though they would be the first to go, I don't think I could eat them, but they do have a house full of food and no guns...........

  • Kevin_LKevin_L Member Posts: 2,011 ✭✭✭✭

That's a good idea. I may need to move closer to some fat libtards that think I'm gonna help them survive.

I use to have coworkers say they were coming to my house if it happens

I tried to explain to them me owing a red Ryder dasy and a old 22 rifle would not be what is needed to survive it is just a tiny part of the puzzle

To survive that would be a small miracle lot luck and a lot of planning resources including stocks of food water fuel a large group of like minded peope working together and of course location

Great book. It is set on the east side of Asheville, about 30 miles from here. Things are bad enough to start with, towards the end of the book he portrays mobs coming up to Asheville on I-40 from Charlotte. Urban mobs wanting to take stuff away from country boys like me.

The series of books "Going Home" was (IMO) the best of the post apocalyptic books

He got the firearms, prepping, logistic etc etc right making it more believable

But, becoming popular he continued book after book (Can't blame him for taking the money) till it became tiring

    I stopped after book 8 (I think)

I've always been a fighter when it comes to survival. Probably the most important thing to hord in dire times is just one bullet for myself.
