So, what would your preference be in a carry holster?

Straight, back or cross draw? The more I think about this scenario the more confused I get!?

I had a messed up rotator cuff and arthritis in my right shoulder. Now it has had reverse, total shoulder replacement surgery. I can't reach behind my back and most straight draws didn't work. Cross draw worked for me as well as a shoulder holster (and could use a cross draw while seated in the car). For the heavy Star MegaStar in 10mm and a backup magazine the only thing that has worked is a drop leg holster.

3" Kimber .45 OWB @ 4 o'clock
Straight draw. It is the fastest way to have the gun up and working.
If I am going to draw a gun, negotiations are over.
Owb in a belt slide style or pancake on right side .
Belt slide, forward cant no strap
I have several Remora holsters. They are an inside the waistband holster that will fit anywhere along the beltline and are easy to draw from, and I've never had an issue when drawing. The outer shell is a somewhat sticky rubber that keeps the holster in place.
Hear's a link to their website.

I like my Masters holster. Several of my semi automatics fit one holster. Untucked, you can barely see the gun.
IWB or OWB I carry straight up between 3-4 o’clock on my right side with a spare mag on my left. I recently got a new gun belt by 1791 and it makes carrying so much better.
Very good point in ref to a belt. A good quality belt makes a ton of difference. Don't go cheap on a belt.
My carry holsters are Purdy Gear. Unfortunately Karla is no longer taking custom orders. Mine set strong side 3:00. Holsters are Bill Jordan style.
I carry my 1911s in condition 1. The pancake with a thumb brake works best for me.
Unless I go retro and carry the 66 wheel guns. Then it's pancake with thumb brake, you know totally different.

This is the holster that some members recommended me to buy. It is a Galco. I like it, but I can't get comfortable sitting in a car, with the holster digging into my side. I can't find anything comfortable for that carry. I might go with a shoulder holster or something else.
My favorite is a Walmart bag.
Untucked short sleeve button down shirt with a forward (FBI) canted OWB stong side kydex holster is my preference of late.
Straight no cant holsters can double as a cross draw holster though and I have used them in the past.
I recently picked up a Bravo Belt - belly band holster and do find it really comfortable to wear.

I have used Fobus paddle holsters on strong side and cross draw.
I've never done IWB
Most of us have a bag of holsters that did not work for us. It's a process.
Man, ain't that the truth. I have a bunch, and have yet to find one that I can truly say I like.
Fobus paddle for my S&W ez-slide. Cross draw since my right shoulder doesn't move like it did 20 years ago.
AIWB. PHLster or Tenicor.

Highly recommend 1791. I have a belt to match. You can buy off Amazon or directly from them. Even saw they are in some stores now. They do fit tight so follow the directions so you can draw your gun easily. I also like El Paso Saddlery and Mitch Rosen. If you have a Ruger you can buy many Mitch Rosens off their Ruger’s website.
Gun type matters!
Compact semi auto, cross breed(lifetime warranty with GREAT customer service) IWB right side for right hand draw(I have it canted way forward).
357 revolver, shoulder holster, cross draw.
Andrews Custom leather carjacker holster is a cross draw. A video is on Y. T. He shows how he makes it. . I'm not smart enough to give you a link. Sorry. I just ordered one.
DeSantis speed scabbard . Adjustable cant and retension pressure . I had previously posted about an Alessi that I own but the speed scabbard tops it in the outside waist band style.
Someone else mentioned the belt. The best holster is useless if you use a regular weight belt. Spend the money needed to buy a quality gun belt . You can thank me later
.
Absolutely ^^^^
I currently use a Desantis Super Fly pocket holster for my Springfield XD 45ACP and my S&W 357Mag J-Frame.
If I'm going to carry one of my 1911's, OWB Forward Cant Draw Side (RH). It allows me to deholster while driving and keep it at the ready. I'd like to eventually have a Cross Draw Weak Side (left side) for driving purposes.

Agree/same here, but I just keep putting it off. @retroxler58
The U.S. Cavalry carried cross draw. The reason being was accessibility by either hand.
Oakie... phunny... I have the exact same complaint about my strong side draw holster digging in my side while driving. They tell me it ain't the holster... 😲
You need the accessory Dunlaps guard.
I've been out of town for 4 days. Appreciate the info. Should heave mentioned my carry is an Sig P365 with the 12 rd. mag. I use a Barsony #4 but not very comfortable with it! Again I thank you, VERY informative.
