Who's got a cute .22?
This belongs to the boss. While I was scrounging around in one of the safes to find my Anschutz for bpost's rifle thread, I ran across Judy's little pride and joy. It is an Anschutz Woodchucker that she bought in about 1990. This was a cheap entry level kids beginner gun. Ted, a relative of hers was a stockmaker and hated the plain birch stock it came with, so he performed a little magic.
It has a skeleton grip cap and a checkered butt. No regular scope that I tried looked in proportion and I finally found an out of production Redfield 4X rimfire scope that looked good on it. I think Judy paid about $150 for the rifle and I probably have $75 in the scope and mounts. Dang thing shoots as good as it looks. Maybe I'll have to take it to the range and put a few more rounds through it one of these days. Like I said in the other post, to many guns and to little time. Bob

My wife is a 44 and she’s pretty cute but you’re not gonna get a picture of her!
Still have my Marlin 15Y Little Buckaroo. 4th birthday present.
how about an Anschutz..............shotgun. m-Zephyr
Thats pretty cool Mike, @MIKE WISKEY
Where can you get the birdshot for a reasonable price? Not on the shelves for 2 years.

Heh, heh. He said checkered butt.
Nice rifle Bob!!........or should I say Judy.
Looks like we have a rimfire weakness........as mine is for 22LR and 22Mag.
I did find a pic of my old Kimber Custom Match 22LR.......also from the early 1980's.
It has a matte Leupold 2.5-8x with the parallax corrected to 75 yards.
That is one gorgeous .22!
Somewhere around here is a late 80's SuperAmerica. I couldn't let Judy have the prettiest .22 without buying something for myself.😁 Bob
Got a Savage/Anschutz mod.164. I bought it back in 1983, removed the iron sights and put a Leopold rim fire scope on it. Out of all the rifles I have, this rifle has what I would say has the perfect trigger. Have sent many; many a squirrels on ahead with this rifle.
Nice looking stock on that 22
Shame on you William! Without its scope, that pic is "topless" gun porn!
It probably shoots great! I know my 14" contender barrels do. Bob
I had a scope on it for a while but decided I like it just like it is !
If I had any they'd be ugly.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
I had one of these. It was pretty cute. I sold it years ago then saw it again a few years later at a gun show.
I had a 164 but sadly that wasn't one of the guns that was ever recovered after my house was broken into in 1989. But there is still hope because I did get that Win 101 back last year that was lost in that same break in.
My 164 won a half dozen trophies at our club .22 matches in the mid to late 80's. I say it won because it was always some one I loaned it to that got first place! 😀 Bob
That looks excellent! Even better with the Leupold on it.
I think I have mentioned a couple of times on here about finally doing a 10/22 build. I know I am in the minority, never really caring much for the 10/22, because of the poor factory trigger and stock. But being a self-described .22 nut I felt not having one was somehow sacrilegious. When a plain Jane carbine fell into my lap, it was a sign that one needed to be built.
A fluted .920 McGowen barrel, Boyds stock, new trigger, good base and rings and a decent scope.
This is the result the first time I shot it. The shots walking up to the center bull was getting the scope sighted in. The other 4 targerts are 5 shot groups. Needless to say I was quite happy with my efforts. Oh, and I did buy a "few" more boxes of the Aguilla.😀 Bob
Seems we also have a weakness for Kimbers. 😉
Somewhere in my old Windows 98 hard drive, are pics of my matched set of "S Series" Kimbers, in 22LR, 22Mag, and 22 Hornet. They were scanned from old 35mm pictures.
Oddly.......when at the range.......my wife and son would fight over my grandfather's Winchester 61 Octagon barrel rifle. It is a neat little shooter. 👍
Back when Kimber was just starting out, they had a program that folks that already had one could get the new chamberings with the same serial # as they were introduced. I have a relative that bought every dang one as they came out. He single handedly made his FFL a master Kimber dealer! Some calibers they only made a few dozen or so meaning he has some pretty rare guns. I've seen some on the auction side go for big bucks, but he doesn't care and will never sell his. Maybe this is where I got my .22 sickness/addiction.😁 Bob
I also have several more 22's. I still have my Sears and Roebuck/Glenfield 22 youth model, from 1967. It was my first rifle that my dad bought me.
Back in the day........even being "small time", Kimber would send me many offers/options. They even offered pictures of different stocks to choose from.
That all slowly came to an end..........and later, Janet Reno pulled my ticket.
But........long before Kimber......my love of rimfires started with a Ruger Mark 1 Target, a Win 9422M, a Savage-Anschutz 164M, and a Savage-Anschutz 54M.
Still have the 54M.......😉
My hand unloading/reloading of 22Mag ammo.......is another story. 😇
Who was the man who built the worls clas .22's?
That was Joe. I don’t remember his forum handle. Only man I know who could drill a hole smaller than before.
Jim.........you talking about the guy who used to also write articles for Precision Shooting magazine?
Not sure.......but Bill Calfee(edit) comes to my slow mind. 🤔
@Joes Custom Guns
This is kinda cute, I bought the stock on the auction side from a forum member. He was just starting up making these and had this as a buy it now for about $ 70 , I grabbed it quick . With the cabon fiber barrel it weighs very little . A nd very accurate
Rem. 541-T with Leupold VX III 6.5-20 X 40, tack driver. Bought it in 1995 new. It has one of those "Curley Maple" stocks! A guy at the range a few years ago offered me more for the stock than I paid for the gun with scope!! Grandkids love shooting it & so do I😄
Remington 541T with Leupy 3-9.
Kimber 82A with Leupold/Kimber 4X.
Kimber 82B Super America with Leupold/Kimber 4X.
Kimber 82C
Kimber K22
Cooper 57LVT with 3-9 Leupold
Ruger Classic 10/22 with a Winchester model 52 barrel.
Got tired of taking pictures. Have a really nice Marlin 39D, a few Winchester 1890's along with some CZ's too. Have a second year Remington model 34 that I need a stock for.
SHOWOFF!! Tod, yep.
Here we go,,,heck yeah @KenK/84Bravo
Real nice
Two Ruger Bearcats I think are kind of cute. My hands are not large, but almost too large for these two.
My “cute” Ruger Wrangler
22 caliber handguns????......you bet!! (and it's Ken's fault 😇)
Here's the only one on the 'puter I can post.
It's Kart target pistol, that I built in the early 1980's.
That's a Colt Gold Cup trigger I fitted to the AMT frame.
Good old shooting memories......for sure. 🥲
I didn't know this was going to morph into a handgun show and tell but I just said .22's so what the heck, here's a few of mine;
So for a little variety, one of my High Standards, S&W 41 and a Beretta 76. All shoot better than my eyes are capable of nowadays. Bob
A model 41 is on my bucket list....
Just one. Don
