I love that song... I cry when I hear it.
"Independence Now, Independence Forever."
John Adams
The guy who wrote that is from right here in Spartanburg!! Yes, it does bring tears to my eyes!!
😥
It is a very sad song Lady Rae. You had to have been there and lost friends to understand it.
I had an adopted Gradma and her husband who lost Timmy Jacobsen... He was MIA. I remember there heart ache well. Kermit died when I was 12, even as a girl I was pretty sure he died of a broken heart. They are all together now. When I was about 28 Timmy's remains were laid to rest in the empty grave with his mom and dad. When the Viet Nam wall came to our area my dad went to see.... I don't know how he was able to do that. I personally looked for the name of Timothy Jacobsen.
On another forum I have a friend who listens to"Alice's Restaurant" every Thanksgiving.... To remember. To pay homage. I asked my dad about it... He said "At Alice's Restaurant you could get anything you wanted and we were all eating C rations..."
To echo the verses my dad wrote home about the time of the Battle of LZ GRANT
"I look to the hills whence cometh my help, my help cometh from the Lord who made Heaven and Earth"
"Independence Now, Independence Forever."
