on the owners part. Why in the * would you allow customers to walk out the front door, past the parking lot, to the firing line unaccompanied? With a submachinegun no less? This sets the concept of "responsible gun owners" back fifty years.

Maybe an inside job OR just a complete moron employee. I've never rented a gun, much less a machine gun, but I would think a real ID would be required. It's fairly easy to spot most fake IDs. No one noticed for an hour or more too!? Must be a busy shop!

Fantastic incompetence. Mike might be right could be an inside job.

Something somewhat similar happened at a range in a city near us.. They used to rent guns to anyone with a valid drivers license to fire at the indoor range.

The police found out that some local gang members were using the range to target practice. After practicing at the range the gang members then went out and ended up getting in a shoot out with other gang members and someone got killed.

Not long afterward the range was shutdown for good.

I can't beleive they would let you walk out with a pistol unsupervised, let alone a machine gun!! he should lose his liscense for that........ even though he is blaming a dumb employee, he hired him to be there in his absence, still his fault.....

    Just amazing

The clerk should be charged with federal crime for proving it to her

The theif should be locked up 20 years no parole no ple deals no excuses

The whole story Sure seems awful fishey

    And convenient

With that said MG's should not be regulated or regestered

It was done to keep them out of poor peopes hands and holds true even today

That was planned out. Wearing hat low, never looks a the camera, pays with cash, false lD. Probably had dried glue on her fingers so she wouldn’t leave finger prints.

She was arrested for the theft/possession etc. She used her dead sister's ID....

CONVERSE, Texas – Bexar County sheriff’s detectives have arrested a woman in connection with the theft of a submachine gun from a Converse shooting range.

Court documents show Amber Herring, 25, was taken into custody late Monday night, then booked into the Bexar County jail.

She faces charges related to the theft and possession of a prohibited firearm. Her bond is set at $30,000.

The arrest affidavit says Herring appears to have the same tattoo on her chest that is seen on a woman caught on surveillance video at Lone Star Handgun shooting range.

The owner of the Converse business shared that video with KSAT 12 News.

He said the woman in the video had used someone else’s ID card to rent the submachine gun, then never returned the weapon.

The affidavit says detectives determined the ID card actually belonged to a woman who died in a fire last December.

It says by searching social media accounts for that woman and her family, they determined that Herring was her sister.

They believe Herring used her dead sister’s ID during the theft.

The affidavit did not mention a motive for the crime.

Good to see she was caught and I would assume the weapon recovered. Would've been a hell of note if it had fallen into the hands of gangbangers or a school shooter.

It makes the clerk look less stupid. She used her dead sister's ID. Probably looked like her.

But it makes the criminal look much more stupid.
