Tree stumps dumped on property

Went up to my wooded property and some SOB dumped a bunch a large tree stumps at the entry way blocking it.
They are too big for me to move or even cut with a chain saw.
I hate to call and pay someone to haul them away.
Would a tree stump grinder work on a tree stump that is already out of the ground?
Any ideas?

If they are as big as you said it would take a long time and would be expensive for a stump grinder. They usually charge by the inch to grind stumps.
It might be possible for someone looking for free firewood to cut them up. I have seen some people around here go to great lengths to get free firewood.
Shouldn't be to hard to figure out where they came from. Must be a house being built near by.
Put an ad in the local paper for free firewood. It will disappear.
I'd be riding around looking for any newly cut trees and telling them you expect this to be handled.
Report it and see if the LEO can figure it out.
Id ride around and look for somewhere close by that just had stumps removed. I doubt the hauled them far.
If nothing is around the pile.......a 5 gallon bucket half full of tannerite would clear the driveway! No telling where the stumps, or pieces, would land however. 😁
A stump grinder won't work. They need to be "anchored" in the ground for the stump grinder to work.
I saw up lots of firewood, and I just split a truckload of ash today. But I wouldn't cut up stumps and roots. There are all kinds of small rocks in the dirt in the roots, and those pebbles are murder on a chainsaw chain..
What a mess. Good luck. Hopefully you can find the jerk who dumped them.
They'll be back. Get a game camera. Preferably one that sends pictures to your cell phone.
Sounds like a job for tannerite.

Thats a tough one. How about if you have lots of property and a friend with a back hoe or excavator can bury them out of the way and fill in depression a few years from now. Are you allowed to stack them out of way and burn at a latter date? Don't go near them with a chain saw at least I would not. ---------------------------Ray
Yeah, just get a friend with a back hoe to move them out of the way, into the woods. In a few years they will rot away.
Yeah, I'd be pretty wound up over that.
Agree with look around, also advertise it for firewood. Good luck.
No KenK/84Bravo, many don't have any respect for others. 😣
Definitely report it and take photos. You want to establish a trend with the police, in case the miscreants think they found a safe dumping spot for future junk. Cops won't have time or resources to investigate, but they will have a record. Who knows, maybe a cop will drive by someplace and notice some new holes in the ground.
No grinding, police won't have any answers and if you find them what you think where they came from, proving it. Get a tractor push them off to the side and when weather right add some small brush and see if they will burn. And NOBODY wants them for firewood.
Does the school bus drive by there? Ask the driver. Bus drivers see everything.
I'm really disappointed that more of the solutions offered on a GUN FORUM don't involve the use of... a gun.

I was about to point out someone HAD suggested Tannerite....but I see that was you!!! 😄
A long long time ago Larry and my brother in law were out in the woods shooting some of their rifles.
One of them had an AK47 with a drum. It was shocking how many rounds it took to take down a small pine tree. I'm sure they missed quite a few shots (being it was an AK47.)
OK ok.... Put sign on stumps. Trespassers and stump dumpers will be shot.

Great idea! Check with the mailman also.
If you see a lot that has been recently cleared, look on google earth for past photos of the lot to see what had been there.
Can tannerite be used with a fuse or do you have to shoot it?
I do not want to be to close when it goes off.
Will things catch on fire?
You have to shoot it.
You can be back as far as you can aim well.
Wet things do not catch on fire, if you take my meaning.

Has to be shot with a high caliber rifle, unless you buy the less potent rimfire tannerite.
What's a "high caliber" rifle? I thought that was a journalist phrase.
I’d push them all up into a berm, add a little cover dirt, and be thankful for the new range back-stop. 😁
Just put a “FOR SALE” sign on them and hope some ghetto boys come along and steal them!
Really? Something at least 223 or larger. Would you feel better if I said deer rifle?! LOL
Shoot regular tannerite with a 22lr and you will understand!
That's what my sister did in Norfolk, VA. She put an old carpet on the curb. The trash truck wouldn't pick it up. She put it on her stoop and that night someone stole it.
Maybe you should define 'stump'.
Never realized there was so many ways to get rid of stumps😀 ----------Ray
Getting rid of them is the smaller part of the issue. Keeping his land from becoming a dumping spot is much more important.
Another thought, check with the building dept. to see who is building or clearing land.
If you find out who & pursue it, word will get around that you won't tolerate it.
Here's a solar powered security cam for $160. Cops and DAs love crimes caught on security cam.
Does it involve guns?

Ask neighbors all around there if they have security camera footage showing the road. You could get really lucky and get a name off of a truck door.
