Lost one of my goats suddenly

Yesterday I lost one of my beloved goat kids. It's amazing how attached you get to these guys in a week's time by bottle feeding and holding them 4+ times a day. It happened very, very quickly. in the morning I got them all up and fed. By 1pm he didn't want a bottle (very strange from the always-acting-starved goats). By 6 pm he couldn't stand up on his own. And by 6:30 he was gone as I was loading him up to go to the vet.
My heart is destroyed.
RIP Bob.

Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche

Animals have a way of taking your heart.
You may need to get the others checked by a vet. Just to be on the safe side. Don
Dang! Sorry, Randy! That kind of thing just cuts to the core.
Do you have any water hemlock around your place that he could have gotten into?
I'm genuinely sorry to hear that, Mr P.
Did that this morning. Yep.

No, it's not wet enough here for that to even grow.

You probably should have taken him in first thing. Also I don't know what your climate is but he could have gotten Flash pneumonia.
I'm sorry for your loss. Losing our beloved animals is the hardest thing we ever go through.🙏🙏❤️❤️🐐🌹💐

That's some bad stuff. I've been fighting it for years. This year, it's all out war.
I was told it took seven years of spraying to kill it out. Highly poisonous to all mammals.
I hear it's what they used to poison Julius Caesar.
Hind sight is 20/20. There was no way to know that just because he wouldn't eat that he was going to die within a few hours. By the time I got a hold of the vet, it was too late already.

When baby animals don't eat that's a bad sign... In the future as soon as a little creature is not eating Treat. Have LA200 or LA300 on hand always.

Oh no. I'm sorry for the loss. Any indication from the vet as to why, what happened?
She thinks it was interstitial pneumonia.

Dang it. I'm sorry.
I remember my wife's mother would give her lambs a little bit of whiskey for treating something. I'm not sure what it was though.
Just my WAG. But goat Kids (and lambs) are very susceptible to Enterotoxemia. Standard practice is to vaccinate them early on. My grand kids lost one a few weeks ago. Their Dad knew better. Just didn't get "aroundtuit". Just a thought. YMMV.
So sorry to hear this news.
Sorry for you loss. I lost my 2 Bullmastiffs within a month of each other and that really hurt.
I know how you feel Randy, been there done that. And it sucks.

Very sorry for your loss and pain. RIP Bob.
Goats can die from many ailments. Fact of life. A person learns to differentiate between livestock and pets. Same as between pets and family.
In my house pets are family.
Same here. But the best thing is to be prepared...
@Mr. Perfect do you know how to give injections? If not you must learn and keep supplies on hand.
Your baby goats are the sweetest things 💗💗

Sorry to hear that Randy.
Check property for night shade
Sorry to hear this Randy. Very hard to see something as cute as a young baby goat get sick and die. Those critters have a way of getting into your soft side very easily, even if you are a hardened farmer type.
How are the other kids doing? Hoping all is good. @Mr. Perfect
Eat the other two before you lose them too!
Since goats seem to have a lot of appeal here, how would you guys like to join the 'sponsor a goat' program?
For only pennies a day, you can give your sponsored goat all the grass/weeds/tree leaves it can eat and full time 24/7 protection from an entire list of diseases and physical threats.😁
The other two are doing well and growing fast!
