Sgt. Corey Maynard, Williamson, WV, was shot and killed today while responding to a shots fired call. The suspect has not been apprehended at this time. Sgt Maynard lived only a mile from me and dated a woman who lived within sight distance of my home. He was always friendly and waved every time he drove by. My wife and daughter knew him quite well and spoke with him often. He often ate at a restaurant my daughter works at part time. If he was there when she got off work late he always made sure she got to her car safely. I was always very thankful for this. We lost a good one today. Prayers for all the family and may he rest in peace.

Sad news. RIP
Damn. Prayers for his family.
Being married to a retired LEO I thank God everyday that I never got that call in the middle of the night. I hope when they catch him the dirt bag resists just enough to justify them perforating his worthless carcass and that he bleeds out slow.
A terrible loss for his family...........and our country.
RIP Sgt Maynard 😔
West Virginia state troopers are often the only LEO's on patrol. Not much co-ordination with local LEO's. Back in the '60's and '70's, during miner's strike s, they were often the only law to prevent a bloodbath.
When my daughter was in the Shepard Center in Atlanta, they brought in a young trooper from Princeton, WV. who had been shot in the head by the female involved in a domestic dispute. He laid on the ground until a trooper from another county came to assist.
Inner city cops have it tough, but WV troopers are often Lone Rangers out in the country.

Prayers for his family . Too much of this thing is happening .
prayers for family and friends
Sad loss for all of us
RIP officer
Sad our country has so many who do not respect the officers and especially their life's
But then we have the politicans and big name entainers with countless followers promoting the hate and encouraging such behavior to defend and fight
Suspect is in custody.
Rest in Peace Sir 🙏❤️🇺🇸

Well they got the nad guy & it looks like he resisted arrest…..
Naw, he just tripped and fell.
I wonder if there was a sandbag present? Too bad the scum sucking piece of bovine dung didn't get what he really deserved. Does West Virginia still employ the death penalty?
WV hasn't had a death penalty in several years. I would support one with cases like this.
The picture Posted of the killer looks like another blight on society and a product of society.

Looks like Appalachian mountains hillbilly trash. We got 'em around here. Really messed up their world, ten years ago when they took the Sudafed off the shelves of the big grocery stores, and they couldn't cook up any more meth.
Looks like he was arrested "with prejudice" but not "extreme prejudice" as deserved.
heard them talking on the radio the procession following the hearse was around 400 cars and was about an hour long!. they said there were state police cars who came to get in the procession from at least 9 different states one from wisconson. Truely a sad situation, but he did go out well honored.
