Why The Super High Prices For Muzzle-loaders

I realize that a person can ask any price they want for their items, it is their right. But, why ask more for a used muzzle-loader gun that can be purchased much lower new in the box from various sources. There are many examples on this site. They are relisted time after time with 0 bids. It makes this site look bad and that is not good. Maybe, the sellers are just fishing. Most have excessive shipping prices also. Muzzle-loading guns can be shipped very reasonable through the USPS. Anyone have any ideas?

Because all gun prices are just stupid high now for whatever reason. Heck, Mosin's that would normally sell for $150 (tops) are now going for upwards of $500. its just ridiculous.

Not a chance through USPS as reasonable, the new standard maybe. 45.00 is the almost minimum since they used the over 30" rule -
I don't don't why some do that here, like you said, fishing and hoping. I sold one here two weeks ago and started at $50 dollars and it went pretty well but priced shipping lower than most and it helped I think but of course I picked up the lack of shipping costs.
Don't know what type black powder firearms are desired - but Locust Fork - aka - Kasey McKay has 3 black powder rifles up on auction - bids may go up close to ending Sunday night - but seems very reasonable now. Shipping is $50 - same as for any other long gun she has. Best Regards - AQH

You think mass production made muzzle loaders are more expensive, you should see how much a traditional custom built side lock rifle goes for these days!
I blame the high rising price of parts over the past few years.
Possibly the sellers wife is nagging him to get rid of his guns, so to keep peace he agrees to sell them and puts such a high price on them that he knows no one will buy them.
Also used muzzle loaders are also much higher risk than a used rifle. relists shouldn’t be free after the first one
Mass production should make for lower prices, at least that is the theory. I wonder how the price of a custom muzzleloader as a percentage of annual income compares to the price in 1840,
[joke] In today's woke world, fewer gun owners want to be thought of as "breech loaders."[/joke]
Based on that thought I don't want to be a muzzle loader or breach loader
You guys are giving me weird thoughts regarding my interests in LONGRIFLES!!! 😲😁
<grin>
not sure if it is the case, but a lot of folks are asking new or above prices, because the dealers are out of stock, and not sure when they will get more......
You gotta discount comments from guys with minds in the gutter, and just focus on your your own outstanding rifles.
