That's a beuti. Just getting the line wet is often satisfaction in itself, hooking a nice fish puts it over the top.
All I caught was a little carp.
Dang, too bad. Better luck next time. LOL. That is great there, WTG.
What a great way to spend the afternoon! Congrats to both of you.
Beautiful setting, time with a friend, and a couple of nice fish. It don't get much better than that!
Looks like the New River.
Going to need a bigger boat !
Over our right shoulder was where Adam Harmon came apon Mary Draper Ingles after she escaped from the indians and walked back to Virginia from the Indian village in Ohio.
My friend owns the property where they met after her ordeal.
That's in my old neck of the woods. Beautiful area.

😮😮😮. Holy smokes. Never caught anything that big in my life. What a couple of nice fish!!!!!!!!!!!!
Had a well-to-do aunt that lived in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, and we'd go up to visit her in the summer.
She had a neighbor who was a big Muskie fisherman.
His lures were bigger than most of the fish this ol' Texan ever caught🙄
Nice Muskie. Little harder to catch this time of year so good job. Good carp too. Carp will put up a good fight especially if they are in river current. congrats on a good outing.
Carp are a good trainer/ exercise for steelhead. Especially with light line.
I lived in VA most of my life and had no idea there were Muskie like that in the rivers. I sure never caught one! Looks like something you’d see coming out of the Great Lakes or Canada!
We're about 10 miles from Lake Geneva! BIG female carp just off the sea wall 3 weeks ago. Lots of bow fishermen out there. I've caught maybe 15 Muskie but never a keeper. Still have hand carved "Bobby Baits" for Muskie😉
Ole Bugle Mouth.
I'm talking about the Carp.
Them carp's are really fun to catch.
Good training fish for anyone, especially kids. When anyone can land a carp using light line they are ready to do battle with the big un's.
Used Wheaties (breakfast of champions for the carp) and strawberry pop mixture.
60 years ago we used to go handfishing in the local river. About all we ever caught were carp, usually weighing around 10 lbs. You would put your thumb in their mouth, grab the tail and bend them in a U. Then try to throw them on the bank. There were also a few Buffalo fish in there but we only caught a very few. These were considered 'rough fish'.
Just want to say, we released both. It was my friend's first muskie. I told him, the down side is, it might be the biggest fish he ever catches.
Congratulations on some nice fish and a great trip. Lots of big muskies in the New River. When I'm home, I fish the New River about 6 miles upstream from the Shot Tower near Ivanhoe. It's a great place to catch Muskies in February unless the river is frozen over, but that doesn't happen very often. I am still in Gustavus Alaska for a few more weeks. The fishing is great here for halibut and salmon but the spawn hasn't started yet in the freshwater streams. It shouldn't be long now. The picture of the 10:00 pm sunset is in Gustavus, and the totem pole is in Haines. You can see my house in in the distant clearing to the left of the pole. That is where I lived before the landslide in 2020. Now I live in a cabin about 10 miles from the mountains.
Great pics, Trawler. Are you coming back to SW Virginia?
I'll be back in Carroll County on July 30 to be a full-time Papa to 4 grandchildren.
I sure will miss Alaska, but I've missed the grandkids more!
