Made a purchase. Huge for me. The listing was supposedly done by the grandson. So when contacted to pay it was another individual. I told him listing didn't match the name. He changed the listing to his name. He listed payment by USPS money order. Now he wants it wired to his bank. Am I protected since it is name listed in his name on the site?

"Wired to his bank" ? IDK, about that one. Call and see what transpires when questioned about the auction. Be careful.
1st off make sure you read about the rules of posting these kind of questions

keep things on the you're asking for help on what to do side and you might be ok
since the seller is changing payment I would be very carefull about going forward with the purchased unless he can show that he's on the UP & UP and not trying to scam you
IF it's a firearm you can ask that you take the payment to YOUR FFL and after your FFL guy gets the firearm then he sends it on to the seller
if the seller isn't willing to work with you them maybe walk away
Yes, call him on the telephone and speak to him in person. If it did not say in his auction description that payment needed to be wired ti his bank, do not do it. Sounds fishy to me. As Grasshopper said, be careful. This is looking like a scam.
Don’t wire the money. Grasshopper, redhawkk480, and HPD are right.
I would walk away from this deal.

No. Just because the names match doesn’t mean you’re “protected”. Might be a legit newbie, but it’s not worth the risk given the warning signs IMO. I’d dig further before sending $ in any form…and wouldn’t wire direct to anyone that I didn’t personally know and trust.
If it's something that you just gotta have, there is an escrow service tool, but not sure how it works.
