If you won the lottery?
What would you do with it??? First I would donate half, to Saint Jude's Hospital for children. I would then let my financial advisor, set me up, so my family and future Grandchildren, could live off this money for the rest of their lives. I would keep the house and cars we have now. I'm very comfortable with what I have and don't need or really want anything. I guess if I did buy myself one thing, It would be a 1967 Cj5 jeep, and have it restored back to original condition. On another note, In my will, I have already left a sizable donation to Saint Jude's Hospital. It's just something that is very dear to me. I hate seeing children suffer, and see parents losing everything they have, just to pay overpriced medical bills. Saint Jude's, makes sure this doesn't happen.

Pay all our debt(s)
Pay all our kids debts
Savings/investment for each of us
Take a vacation. We have never had a vacation.
I would have to play the lottery to “win”.
I think your priorities of philanthropy & generational wealth are the right priorities.
I would also start my own business.
I had a coworker win the state lottery, I think it was a hair over 2 million. He was in his 50’s at the time.
He gave the company 30 day’s notice & retired. A few months later, I see him working in the paint department at Home Depot. I ask what he’s doing and he exclaims “this is great! I work 1 day a week, I have no responsibilities & I get an employee discount on everything!”
He couldn’t have been happier.
Kind of a moot point as I would probably not survive the heart attack that winning would cause.
If I somehow did survive, the first thing I would do is disappear. Since most states, Michigan included, will publicize the winner's name, people will probably be coming out of the woodwork with their hands out. Judy and I have no debts and live comfortably on what we have so yes, I would probably share a lot of it with family and give a bunch to charities of MY choosing. Child health care would be a good place to start but if anyone actually comes out and asks for a donation they will be automatically disqualified. Anonymously helping out a local person who has been the victim of a disaster, like a fire or flood would be high on the list as well. Bob
I "won the lottery" when I met my wife and her two children in l978. I was again a winner when I went to work, 27 years, for a great company that provided me with a comfortable retirement. I became a third winner in '01 when I had successful heart surgery. But, since you asked, I always wanted a restored 1948 Peterbuilt to tow my 'ol '76 travel trailer to my favorite fishing lakes here in NorCal and Nevada. BTW, I caught my limit at Antelope Lake today, two were over 5 pounds. Ever hear the Song "18 Wheels And A dozen Roses" by Kathy Matea??? That has been our theme song since 1988 when it came out. Fast Eddie, but I'm slowin' down.
Probably get even more pissed of at government since half will go to pay the taxes.
Good choice Oakie
I was going to say the old stand by booze, drugs, hookers , and waste the rest but then Hunter B has that covered. 😁
off the top of my head , the children's hospitals and animal shelters would get some of it , both can not help what has been delt to them in life .
I would love to buy a nice ranch out west or south west with a little better weather and be far enough from any neighbor. to even think about them . set up trust for the kids and hopefully grand kids ( we only one now ) maybe a scholarship in my name as I never go to go to collage and would like to know some other kids would have a little better time of it
of course a lot of the toys I always dreamed of a real true 427 ac cobra and a few more factory muscle cars that I could never hope to own just think about .
reality but as my mom and dad told me constantly as I was growing up wish in one hand and *&%% (cant post the word but I am sure all have heard it ) in the other hand see which one fills up first . or people in the hot place I am Destin to go want ice water too 😥
my parents were always realistic and great at killing the kids dreams 😯
but what is life if we cant hope to make it better for our self or family?
Oh I would have the best give away on GB forums that would be legendary not to show off but for for putting up with me for 22 + years 😊
I've had my eye on an equipment upgrade. Maybe windows and siding for the house. Plenty of places to spend $$ here.
I have some issues with things like St, Judes. If they've been in business for so long but still only in the treatment stage rather than identify the cause and prevent, maybe NOT making such great progress.
Might want to read up on 'em a little more. They do some good work there.
I've thought about what to do with lotto winnings numerous times but really like your idea @Oakie of a large donation to St. Judes. Mind if I borrow that idea, John? You know, for when I win!
Another thing I'd do with that kind of money is buy a classic Corvette and do a giveaway here. In Select's memory, of course...
I haven't played the lottery in years, and don't plan on doing it again. All our debts have been paid years ago, and I don't want to go through the hassle of dealing with money I didn't earn. We have made provisions for our Granddaughters to have a great start to their future after we are gone.

I would FIRST travel far and wide and try to find some reloading components, such as some powders, primers, that I have been patiently looking for for last 4 years and knowing that now I have enough money to buy such if I got them located.
(just kidding but it is that bad in my area trying to find my favorite reloading components that I've been really needing for last 4 years) I really have to cherish my shells and make every shot count. Do not get to bench rest shoot and test like in the past.
I do not know, I just know I stopped all monthly donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital when they fired staff for refusing the Covid 19 shots and boosters.
I think a brand new Chevy Suburban, white with all the bells and whistles, would happen and I would pay to pave the two miles of dirt road to my house.
I would buy 500-1000 acres and put a house right in the middle of it, then become a hermit, with range, tractor, dozer to play with, large pond/lake to fish in, hire someone to bring me ammo every week and just have fun.........
Don't tell anyone.
I have never played......I figure too much money would be my downfall !!!!
Well first thing I would do would be Form an LLC and I would not change a thing for about. Year. One day I might tell my wife
"I would buy 500-1000 acres and put a house right in the middle of it, then become a hermit, with range, tractor, dozer to play with, large pond/lake to fish in, hire someone to bring me ammo every week and just have fun........."
I already have all that except the hermit and just have fun parts.
I could then maybe meet one of my goals in life.
Start spending as much on myself as the wife spends on herself and the grandkids.
I’d spend the first half on wine, women and song, and the other half foolishly.
First thing I would need is nice piece of property in the Texas Hill Country... Then a nice big safe for all the Rolling Block's And maybe a 1946 Studebaker pickup to keep Stude company
"Independence Now, Independence Forever."

If I won I would Farm til it was all gone. Probably wouldn't take long, but at least I would have some newer equipment instead of this worn out POS I have to work on all the time.
First fight off all my new friends, second take care of all the local animal shelters
Haven't seen the wife for a year.
Gambling caused it all.
Hit it big and moved to Hawaii!
joke
I’d buy Twitter and drive it to failure so the world could be a better place. Oh wait, Elon Musk beat me to it. Guess I’d give the money back.
Well, the first thing is to set aside half of what you won for taxes. Some tax will be taken out up front, but there will be more, a lot more. Then deposit the remains into a brokerage account in your name. Take lots of time deciding what to do with the money, small amounts at a time. Just remember all the big name athletes that made many many millions during their playing years and then died broke. Totally change all your ID and communication items so you can avoid most (but never all) the attempts to sucker you into donations, special deals, etc.
