With eight other guys and gals. One was a guy I used to work with. He retired and sold his HVAC business.
Bought himself a little toy.

I didn't know you were a biker Jim. I had early ambitions and did enjoy the ride until I nearly bit the dust right at the start of things when I was in my early 20's. Went into scooters on private properties until I looked at some family photos of myself. Looked like a fellow who needed to keep his helmet on long after getting off that scooter! 😁
Miss riding . Arthritis screws up lots of things for folks .
Every once in a while I wish I still had a motorcycle. There's nothing quite as peaceful as a morning ride in the mountains before it gets hot.

That's a proper ride, right there!!!!!

This was the last motorcycle I owned. Should have kept it. Really should have kept it.

I hate motorcycles. They are too dangerous. As far as your arthritis, That is why they make trikes!!!.
Good for you sounds like a great time
I thing riding in a trusted group is the way to go .
I had a bike a very shot time a old triumph chopper I know lol
But I also had a lot of friends who had bikes lucky their spills were minor lost some paint on the bikes and road rash on themseff painful but recovered but it scared a few off their bikes For good
I learned early on. I not only did not trust myself as I was always pushing the limits same with cars no such thing as fast enought if i could have got a top fuel dragester on the street i would have tried
one big thing i distrusted the general public even more
oh and My wife said no way .end of discussion
that Contributed greatly in the decision to not get another bike
Took a trip to Petros,Tn. last week myself. Rode the Devil's Triangle, & toured Brushy Mtn State Penitentiary.

Exactly why I got rid of mine. No self control when the road got twisty.

Well Yeah ...........................................
I'm another victim of arthritis - my hands mainly. I can grip things but letting go is a real problem - especially the clutch. My eldest son now has the CBX. I'd like to punch the guy that said these were the golden years.
I have one sitting in my garage collecting dust just like it. 2014 Bonnie, the last of the Air Cooled Bonnevilles.
I need to make that my next trip to Tennessee. That looks awesome. I want to ride through the Cherokee national Forest, outside Chattanooga. I will have to trailer the old girl though, as my backside can't take it, after about three hours in the saddle. I'm currently looking for a better seat for my Electra Glide. They are expensive!!!!
I sold my horse when I was 14 to buy my first bike . 1967 yamaha trailmaster 80cc. Never looked back until several years ago . I sold and bought back and resold that yamsha 3 times until my drug addiction niece stole it and sold it for scrap
I love the idea of a big, beautiful, comfortable bike like that, but I think it would tempt me to ride all those places I promised myself (and wife) that I would avoid.... highways, fast twisty mountain roads, etc.
For now, I'll stick with my little 233 cc dual sport. Let's me put around town/trails and have a little fun without getting too crazy.
I would love to have one of those! Perfect for riding the national forest roads around here. Or for a quick trip to the store.
I have an old Honda xl250, but it's not reliable and too heavy for this old man.
At a little over 1000 lbs the Harley Touring bike is not easy to maneuver around at slow speeds. Since I do live only 30 minutes from the Tail of the Dragon, I ride it once a year just to get the patch. My most favorite ride is the Cherahala Hwy from Telico, Tn to Robbinsville, NC. The bike I have now a a CVO (custom vehicle operation) model with the 117ci screaming eagle motor. I am sure it is capable of extreme performance, but for me it makes an excellent traveling bike. In a couple of weeks I will be hitting the hwy again for a trip up to Kentucky to travel the Bourbon highway. It consist of visiting several distilleries along the way. I have a friend in Arizona that is a connoisseur of fine bourbons and I understand I will have access to limited editions and perhaps I can send him one.
That's a great looking Honda! The kind I always dreamed about growing up. The carbureted bikes can definitely wear you out with kicking, though. My Kawasaki is air-cooled, but fuel injected. A great simple combo that makes it easy. I do wish it had a kick-start backup, though.
