Digital Currency - Mark of the Beast - End of the Republic
Had a layover at JFK in New Jersey earlier this year. As I usually do, I went to a bar to grab a quick beer before the next flight.
Was presented with the only option to purchase was to download the bar's application to my phone to place the order. OK, not convenient, but I guess I could go along with it. Before I downloaded, I asked a waitress if I could pay with cash or a CC. She said no, I had to pay through the app.
I told her I never put any financial or banking information on my phone, so how can I buy a beer. She said I could order and then pay online with a CC. When I mentioned again that I never put financial or banking information on my phone, which would include a CC, she (30ish?) gave me a blank look as I got up and left.
Had the same thing happen to me Sunday at MSP.
Sadly I enjoy a beer between flights, and as this country goes down the Orwellian path, I will have fewer and fewer, I guess.
Not a big fan of boycotts, but if you do not like the slippery slope we are on towards a US Federal Government Digital Currency, I would suggest no buying from these types of places, and telling the people there why you are refusing your patronage.

Welcome to NJ. Check you guns and rights, at the border!!!
I agree with you 100% . I will not do banking on line of any type. I have a couple of checking accounts, money markets and one checking account that is for my debit card only, I only keep maybe a thousand in it case I would get hacked. I don’t want to be sitting around crying boo who how did this happen to me.
I hate this idea of becoming a digital currency country, it’s just another way of controlling you and keeping tabs on what you’re doing at any given moment. The problem lies in this younger generation accepting it as normal, believing this could never happen in the United States. This is what I see as very scary about this Artificial Intelligence. A machine getting me confused with someone else and deciding if I need to have my finances cut off. No thank you, I want no part of it.
Digital currency is in the near future and would have already been in effect if those higher up with wads of cash could figure out how to convert it and not pay the giverment income tax. My 2 cents.
2 more cents, the mark of the beast will most likely not be digital currency.
You're smart to keep financial info off of portable devices. I do the same. And whenever I have to download an app to pay for something, I don't. Pay or download, that is.
I know what apps are capable of and how they are developed. Even the good ones are full of security holes and defects. I'm not about to trust some hipster's software development skills with my money.

I have a credit card that I use online only.
I would have told her to buy it and given her cash.........
Same here. If I'd had the cash on me, I'd have bought a beer and left some American dollars on the bartop.

The Russians have been doing a fabulous job duping our leaders into bankruptcy. Meanwhile the world is moving away from the US dollar as a standard, and our government wants a digital currency so they can ensure only those with a high ESG score can buy and sell. It's fine, Don.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
It's all for the below-board part of modern business. Harvest your info, target you for ads and other things.
Never fall for this trap.

I bought something with a credit card once & nothing bad happened.
Good grief Don, how do you expect the government to keep track of your money if you just use cash? 😉
This ^^
They do now. Leave nothing in print.
Don's title says it all. I consider this the single most important Topic written on the Forum in a long time. Please heed his advice.------------------ Ray
Are you planning to sell those to a Mexican cartel like ATF did? They don't like competition.

Lady Rae has nailed it. I’ll never except it as normal.
Thus far, I have only seen this in airports - places where the Federal Government has a strong influence.
Thus the concern that they are grooming our youth for the digital dollar.
Has anyone ran into this anywhere else?

Last spring, the wife and I went to watch the grandson play middle school baseball in the next county over. The gate would only take payment through a cell phone app, and T Mobile had no service there. The gate attendant agreed it was ridiculous and turned her head for us to go in for free.
Sadly, this old sign is rarely seen anymore! I know I'm a dreamer but it Sure would be nice if we could bring it back!
I also don't keep financial info tied to my phone. Plus I absolutely hate restaurants that what you to download an app to look at their menu or pay. I ask to see a paper menu and if it's not provided, I'll go elsewhere.
