How silly is this!? Excited for what OTHER people are going to get for lunch!
This is week 2 of the keto diet. I think its working....I haven't weighed in to see. I figure if I feel like its working and wait as long as I can, it will be a better "reward" for putting up with this nonsense.
So, while I can eat any meat, cheese, egg, mayo, mustard, sour cream thing I want.....I'm just not excited for anything anymore. The joy of food is just gone for me altogether.
That might be a very good thing.
What has happened though......I find myself getting excited for OTHER people's meals. Its crazy....I'm not hungry....so I'm not craving anything and I'm perfectly find with not eating all of these things I can't have. I imagine what people are going to get and I'm so happy for them I'm visibly excited.
I just told everyone here....."yall haven't had Mexican in a bit" .....picturing the shrimp combo thing Scott normally gets or Shelby's chicken taco salad. I'm so happy for them.....lunch is going to be great!
Ha ha ha....
Smoked chicken and some fried eggs over medium is my plan.

I tried going Keto. I couldn't make it. I like bread too much.

As soon as I get this surgery done and off the hormone pills and get back to by beloved row boat I'm sure I won't be watching what I eat so much.

LF, just give it some time. It will take a little bit for your tastes to adjust. Once they do, you will crave all those things that you're eating. I know from experience.

Hang in there it becomes easier.
Eggs, Fish, Chicken, Yogurt, Cottage Cheese, and Veggies.
Lots of different way to make meals. Spices help too.
Just stay away from the bread, pasta, and added Sugars.
Been doing this for a while now.
Was 440 about 8 years back down to 275. I've got 25 more to go to my target of 250 ( I'm 6'4")
Feeling better, and my A1C Blood are down to 6.25 ( I have Type 2 Diabetes)
If you're doing any workouts with your keto diet don't get disappointed if you get on the scale and find that your weight is the same. You may be burning off fat and replacing it with some muscle which weighs about 7 times what fat does. Look for a loss of inches, not necessarily pounds.
My wife did this a couple years ago. Worked out and did keto and got herself lookin' really svelte but got madder than a wet hen when the scale told her she'd gained a couple pounds!
I've found some keto bread that isn't too terrible....only 3 grams of carbs per slice.
That whole "carb friendly" food nonsense is a game to some companies. I saw they had some ice cream that said it was low carb.....and had a big 3 carbs across the label. That is so untrue.....looking at the actual label it has somewhere around 17 carbs per serving.
I didn't realize cottage cheese was on the list.....going to grab some of that next time I go out!
Muscle is more dense than fat, fact. So, for the same size you would weigh more, potentially. I much prefer the "scale" of "how well do these clothes fit" as it's a much more accurate measure of progress and health than a scale.

I'm just going to die fat and happy. When the heart doctor told me I couldn't eat cheese, shrimp, crabs, processed meat and so on, I told him , well doc, Guess I am just going to die happy then. The list he gave me was basically, starve to death eating rice wafers and grass. Uh no thanks.
Same here.
In their dying breath, no one has ever said "I wish I had eaten more rice wafers". And no one ever will.
Eat well, get consistent exercise & sleep, and buy good revolvers. Those are the keys to happiness and health.

Cottage cheese DOES have a lot of carbs, for "cheese". So go lightly on it.
I've lost 80 lbs on keto, and kept most of it off......my weight fluctuates, depending how strict I am on it.

I'm a stickler for reading the labels now. My aunt is doing this same diet and has been sending me her "finds"....which has been funny at time. She texted me the other day. She had ribs in her freezer, but normally would have cooked them with a lot of bbq sauce. She was beyond tickled when she found cutting them down and "frying" them in a bit of oil in a skillet worked so well. It was like when a kitten finds its own tail or something....that level of happiness and excitement. Too funny. I sent her a text saying cottage cheese was on the list, but I hadn't looked into it. About 5 minutes later she was telling me the low fat stuff she had in her fridge said it had 7 grams per 1/2 cup. That seems a little high on the carbs for me. I'm trying to do as few as possible for now, so I'm not risking getting any of that for now. Maybe later if I see results and want to be less militant about the carbs per day.
I'm gonna give it another go. The hardest part will be no bread and no beer.
The last time I went zero-carb, I dropped 7 pounds in 9 days and that may have been part of the problem. I think I put in an unsustainable performance instead of making an actual change to diet and lifestyle.

I do just use a bit of Cottage Cheese in an omelet (table spoon) .
I do spurge once a week or so for a serving. About 11 Grams of Carbs per serving (i just like it).
