Hopefully, all our California members will be fine. Our prayers for you guys.

Best stock up on generators now before the power poles all go sliding down hill. We in the Southeast have plenty of experience dealing with hurricanes, water and high winds and dodging flying objects......well all I can say is they're not fun at all.

Up here in Northern Commiforina we just have our usual coastal fog and smoke... But I was reading that my native San Diego was going to get up to 2 1/2 inches of rain... Plus 40 mile in hour winds ... That's nothing up here. But down there they might be scared.

I wonder if @Alpine had family still there?

I believe that Pacific Hurricanes are pretty rare, but admit that when it comes to the weather, all bets are off. It is the Man upstairs that is complete control of such things.

I hope and pray for all that are in harm's way with this event.

I texted my dad's cousin in El Cajon (San Diego) everything is fine.... 2 1/2 inches of rain and no broken tree branches. I guess the descendants of Grandpa Phillips pecan trees are ok.

Remnants of it are due west of mt as I type this. No significant wind or rain yet. It may bring T'storms to us tonight and tomorrow. Hoping so. Water is seldom anything but a blessing here. As of this morning, we've gotten only a whopping 0.12" though for a total of 1.25" this month at my house. That's actually pretty good for August, which is normally our dry season.

    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

I live down here in pecan tree country as does Dcon and I'll inform you full grown pecan trees have a very shallow root system and it's not odd that a good breeze will blow a tree down, a hurricane will blow countless trees down due to the wind and wet soil. Limbs fall all the time year-round for any reason 🤬

I don't know if anyone listened to the song I posted, but it's kinda like a deja vue moment.

Not making light of anyone suffering from this, but found it interesting that a Danish band was singing about the freakout syndrome in California.

I know we have some cool people from the Southwest on this forum, and I sincerely hope they get some much needed rain.

Mother nature is a strange force, and not to derail my own thread, but there isn't a human animal alive that will change her course. YMMV....

Didn't get a drop here in Monterey Bay but it was muggy for a week. It's kind a cool tonight (finally).

...Rain?...what is this "rain" you speak of?...stock tanks drying up, lakes falling...but that's Ok, just summertime in Texas, hot & dry...

Lady Rae - Tonight on my way to work I smelled smoke. It must be from your neck of the woods. The Mexican hurricane must've kept the smell from reaching here. A co-worker told me it's been burning for a month? What did she say Crescent City? I'm sure some silly buggers will light up one in my neck of the woods soon.

We got a "dusting" of rain yesterday here in Grays Harbor. Been a dry summer here but never fear, starting in October or November we'll get the rest of our yearly 7' of rain.

I think we hit a 20 year high for rainfall here in the Flathead. According to our weather gauge here at the house we got 3.04" for August. Only problem is that it happened during only two events, both late in the month. I was starting to get worried about our pastures but boy did things green up again fast when the rains did hit.

I don;t talk to them much. I offered to help them escape to a better non-commie state and they refused.
