So it begins
Well, we're getting a hurricane tomorrow, I believe that we will be just at the southern edge of the bad stuff but these things tend to do what they want. It's just a lot of work to prepare for one of these pains in the *, don't get me wrong, I'd much rather be ready for one that doesn't hit than to not be ready and have my butt handed to me by the one that does.
Still, I know that some will suffer loss of property and some loss of life .... and my heart goes out to those folks .... and the ones that are sent to try and save them.
It's an odd feeling indeed to wish something on someone else that you, yourself have a dread fear of but we always feel both relief and guilt when these things do skirt by us and then ruin someone else's life.
BUT it's just a matter of time before one finally gets you when you live in "paradise" .....................

Stay safe and hunker down. I hope all of the recent transplants are paying attention to the warnings and are prepared. Bob
Stay safe bull.
@AdamsQuailHunter We're thinking of you & hoping you do OK.
Be safe...keep your head down and prayers for you and yours...
Hang tough blizzards are more my thing.
Thank you guys for the well wishes.
"God willing and the creek don't rise" we should be fine.
Best wishes. Where we are there are no hurricanes, no tornados, no earthquakes and no water. You makes your choices and hoped for the best.
Again, very best wishes.
Yep, this one is coming for me as well. Been a long couple days running around getting everything squared away and secure at work.
Over the years, I've somehow managed to be right smack in the middle of:
FLOYD; ISABEL; CINDY; DENNIS; KATRINA; RITA; IRENE; IRMA; IAN; NICOLE; and now IDALIA.
I'm over it! As soon as I retire, it's back to the mountains for good. 😁
Prayers,❤️🙏

They are getting hammered right now.
Update!
Thank God the storm has maintained a more northerly course and will be a bit more to our west so I think we are going to get a lot of heavy, wind driven rain, some very strong winds and hopefully not much else.
Our prayers for you and yours Frogdog .......... hang in there.
Take care you ol’ Curmudgeon !!
Moi ?
Hang tough all you folks in the line of fire of that storm. Prayers from here.
I'll just sit here on the edge of one of the worlds largest 'overdue' volcanoes and pray you folks all make it through safely.
I just don't think I could live somewhere that the wind, on a fairly regular basis, blows faster than my vehicles will drive!
Yes, ‘You’ !! ,,,,,,,, 🤣
I definitely resemble that remark. 🤬
Life is a challenge regardless of where you live, at least you don't have to shovel hurricanes every morning in order to get your vehicle out of the driveway - for five months and Disney World isn't going to explode and leave a crater where Florida used to be.
Life is definitely a trade off.
"Life is definitely a trade off."
Yep, we all pick our poison so to speak.
So far, pretty quiet in my neck of the woods. I think that last jog to the West might have helped us out a lot.
Stay safe you guys in Florida and Georgia. Looks like Savanah and Brunswick are going to get hit next. Praying for ya all
Looks Like it went right over AQH. I called & it went directly to his voice mail.
True dat, my friend.
Sounds like you folks missed the worst of it. Hopefully everyone else makes it through relatively unscathed.
Well, that was much ado about nothing, heck we had worst rain storms last week, the wind however is interesting ............... some really strong gust but all in all I'd give this storm a solid 1. Now that's just us, some poor folks really got stung by this thing and our prayers are with them.
You know, these "things" that happen to us as people, whether it be quakes, tornado, fire, storms whatever the case, tend to make me stop and think of how fragile we are as a species and how everything that we hold dear can vanish in the beat of a heart. Take time right now to go hug someone you love or call that friend that you've not talked to in way too long.
“The clock of life is wound but once,
And no man has the power
To tell just when the hands will stop
At late or early hour.
To lose one's wealth is sad indeed,
To lose one's health is more,
To lose one's soul is such a loss
That no man can restore.
The present only is our own,
So live, love, toil with a will,
Place no faith in "Tomorrow,"
For the Clock may then be still.”

Glad you made it through OK.
