Last year was a total bust due to health issues, no bow or cross bow hunting at all... I only hunted a total of 3 hours last year. This year is going to be different ! Today I got out the Gator and tore around my place and the neighbor's getting some things together. I checked out one tree stand and got it all up and going for this year. I put out two new game cameras and looked around in a new area I have never hunted before... I headed back in before I was done so I would not mess up some folks getting ready to Dove hunt in the evening.. I did check some fence rows and cleared some brush too.
Got me all excited to get out there !!!
Anyone else getting the fever to do some whitetail hunting ???

Well, not me, but my blackpowder mulie season is next month.😊
Yep, I've got the itch as well. One week to go! The deer are THICK. Only question is...... will they move before dark since it's still about 95 degrees every day ? Can't hunt mornings in my area.
Never bow hunted. But that is also when shotgun, weapons restriction season opens also so we'd be out with our slug guns.
Haven't been out in 9 years now. Sure do miss it.
I'm going to set up my feeder and cameras tomorrow. I've got some maintenance to do on the blind also. I'm looking forward to it!!
Our bow season opens in three weeks, but no way am I hunting this early. Too hot, too many chiggers and ticks. The second bow season starts in late October. I will be in a tree every Saturday and Most evenings. I bought a new crossbow and hated it. It just took the excitement out of it for me. I went back to my compound bow and my trusty recurve bow from the 50's. A Browning Cobra with a fresh set of wood arrows.
I’m going to try it again this year with my crossbow. I went out 10 years ago and a couple of years after that but didn’t have that much luck. I ended up hurting one, one year, my fault I tried to take a shot to far away. This year I’m going to hunt from a pop up blind, easier when using a crossbow I believe, and will limit my shots no more than 25 yards. I put up pop up blinds 2 months before the season so they are pretty use to seeing them, and the one place where I put one up I leave up all year, to hunt coyotes, and by July the next year it’s pretty much destroyed from the weather. They also have these mechanical broad heads now that look to be pretty well designed not to fail, I’m going to go with them this year.
Good luck, hope you get one.
😢
I'm totally opposite. Once I picked up the crossbow, it was goodbye to the compound bow for good.
I love the crossbow and it's kind of hybrid bow/gun feel. I also love that you can get into one for about $200 and be shooting 2-3 inch groups 10 minutes out of the box. My cheap little Centerpoint has about 13 deer and counting on it.
This year, though, I'll be putting the Air Bow back in action. Didn't get to hunt with it last year, but I sure had fun with it in the '21-'22 season.
Just got some feeders and cameras out. Hopefully will have some nice bucks come in.
That is an interesting looking critter !
I envy you, that sounds like some great hunting in your near future !!!!!😀
I can't get enthused about hunting when there's still skeeters out.
I'm ready if Brandon will get this global warming cooled down little bit.
Brandon says he only needs 4 more years to get er under control. He has already had over 40 some odd years but he only needs 4 more. Yea sure.
But I just don't think he is talking about global cooler weather for Archery hunting.
What is strange is the GOOD non wormy white Oak acorns are already dropping in my neck of the woods.
Yea, it's pretty fun. Pump the tank (bottom) up to 3600 psi. Arrow slides over a small .22ish barrel within the upper shroud. Shoots those arrows to 485 FPS. I shot a doe at 65 yards and she didn't know what hit her. Just stood there for a few seconds looking around, and then fell over dead.
Best part....reloading in a climbing tree stand is super easy compared with a crossbow. Slide in new arrow, cock the bolt, shoot.
