Well yesterday started out well............
Got up and moving with a list of things to accomplish. Made some loaded oatmeal and the 2nd bite, I felt it go...Tooth cracked and broke in half....... I could wiggle on part of it and it hurt like crazy.. Grab the phone and gave my Dentist a call. Then it dawns on me...LONG Labor day weekend. Left him a message on his emergency line and sat back and waited. About an hour later, he called back. On a float trip somewhere out of State. He said he would try to hook me up with an associate of his and was sorry.
So most of the day rolled by and finally around 5 I get a call from the other dentist. He had been out of town but just got back. He said to meet him in 30 minutes at his office. Headed in and he looked me over and said the tooth had broken off into the bone and was unsavable. Great, so he set to pulling it out. He had a hard time with it saying I had great bone structure and kept at it. You know all those TV and movie extractions they show, mine was nothing like that at all. He finally got it out....Now looking at a bridge or implant down the road.
I was grateful the Dentist made himself available on the holiday weekend... I told him I was sorry for bothering him as I was on call for 35 years before I retired. He said it all comes with the job...A fine gentleman for sure
Never had a cavity in my life and no teeth issues with the exception of a fake front tooth that got knocked out in HS Wrestling... Now it seems like they are falling apart slowly but surely....Getting old sucks.
Sorry for the whining.....
How is your weekend going ?

I'm growing younger and growing new teeth.
And I have a fabulous investment opportunity.
A toll bridge that can make you wealthy.
Sounds like you were fortunate to even find someone to help you out.
My sympathies I have done the same thing.
I am embarassed to say I also broke a molar. Eating a milk dud.
I had a similar issue with a tooth about 3 weeks ago. Called my dentist and she set me up with an appointment LAST week! Grrrrrrr!!
I did find an amazing over the counter product that did a good job managing my toothache however. A temporary do it yourself filling that came in a tiny little can. I applied it upon the bad tooth that had a hole in it and sealed things up where air and hot or cold liquids couldn't disturb the tender nerves. Stayed pain free for that long two week wait to get things fixed properly.
I know! I need to find a new dentist!!
When I was a kid and my teeth were progressing over to permanent teeth I used to go downtown and buy a package of Milk Duds. It didn't take long before my tooth came out embedded in a milk dud. I would free the tooth from the milk dud, put the tooth under my pillow, and eat the milk dud.
Sad thing is that I never got paid for my teeth. Apparently, my teeth weren't worth anything.
Another childhood myth destroyed.

Sorry you lost a tooth. I had a similar situation on a holiday weekend. About 10 years ago the Knights of Columbus does a tootsie roll hand out find raiser at church on Columbus day weekend.
Took a tootsie roll and made a donation. First bite and a cap on a root canal came off.
Of course like you no one available over the weekend. It was a bit painful without the cap but I was able to get thru the weekend.
Cost $200 to put cap back, most expensive tootsie roll I ever had.
The Tooth Fairy only works on the rich side of town! 😁
At that point in time we did live on the rich side of town (kind of).
