It would appear that 32 Winchester Special ammunition is now made of gold and/or platinum. I was checking prices over on the auction side and it was up to $10 per round and $5 wasn't uncommon. I can find Federal Gold Medal Match 308 Winchester 168 grain SMK ammo for less. Sheesh!
Crazy.

Wow, I traded a neighbor out of a box a couple years ago. Maybe I ought to cut 'er loose........
I still have 3 or 4 boxes that were dad's. I know at least a couple of them are 50+ years old. Pretty good return on his investment! His 94 Win with the factory Lyman sight has appreciated a bit as well, but not as big a percentage as the ammo. Bob
Time to start reloading.
Better get your press going Steve. If you're out of that 4064, I know where there is a 20 pound jug of it, not to far from you, for a pretty decent price.
Can you even find brass? Oh I see Starline makes them so you're good, .60 cents a piece. Hmm... from my reading it's just a bit peppier than a 30-30. Even if there were no brass to be had one could make them with 30-30 brass.
If you don't reload I suppose you could pay someone to for less than factory.
Yep, one pass of a 30-30 thru a 32 WS size die = 32 Spl. 168 SMKs are my most favorite for 308 & 30-06 and most everyone who shoots rifles chambered in such. When they become available it is best to buy plenty & hoard.
I still haven't gotten my loading room set up! Every time I think about working on it something else seems to pop up and take priority. Granted, sometimes that's a fishin' trip, so I'm not complaining!
So far I'm still sitting good with components and I still have plenty of the 32 WS loaded rounds on hand, I was just shocked when I saw the prices they were asking for it.
15-20 years ago, a guy asked me if I could find some 32 Win for his old deer rifle. I asked him how many boxes he wanted since it was going to be hard to find and probably a case lot would be a good idea. ONE BOX was his answer. I told him I couldn't logically order ONE BOX of ammo and he needed to spend more time searching any/all local sources. His reply: "Well the hardware store doesn't sell 'shells' anymore". Apparently his search area was limited to a 5 mile radius. Don't know if he ever found more ammo or if his 13 remaining 'shells' has lasted until the local hardware store got back into the ammo business.
That ammo seeking place has 1 listing for new Winchester 32 Win Spl @ $6 a round ($119.98 a box of 20) plus shipping.
Might want to watch these - Best Regards - AQH

That's the auction that got me looking in the first place.
