25-20 in take down this one I think could of been refinished what y’all say
I've owned a couple solid frame ones and that does look refinished. Case coloring is too strong and the serial # looks like some polishing was done. If the bore is good, since I am a fan of 1894's I think in combination with the 73 the price quoted you is fair. If it was me, I would point out the refinishing and try to dicker a bit but that:s because I'm a cheap.... err... I mean frugal. Bob
Lol I gave 3300 for both Marlin and the Winchester
Total junk. Send it to me and I will give you my 1967 red ryder bb gun!!! Mint condition that is.
I would leave it alone and shoot it. I think the more you play with it, the more you are going to take away most of its value. I have been looking for a 25-20, to do a conversion to a 256 win mag. I sold my Browning 25-20 to buy a Marlin. I think I have somewhere north of 60 Marlins right now. This is just one of four safes. I got a couple model 88s mixed in this safe. Most of my marlins are unfired or have less then a box through them.
Can anyone put a value on the marlin
Has it been upgraded to prevent the Marlin jam common to that model?
I’m not sure sis there a way to tell?
There is no "upgrade", it's just a matter of doing some tweaking on the action, not all have the problem.
Does a real 1894 have the same problem? This is not a recent production rifle, it is a 1894-1934 gun.
Correct this is and old version and so far no serial number look up has gave me exact year of mfg
