I think they found it in the house when they served the search warrant. Since most safe companies proudly proclaim their provenance with large ornate lettering on the door it was probably easy to figure out who to call. With a search warrant, they were going to get into the safe one way or another regardless of what Liberty did. I don't like Liberty rolling over so fast but searching the contents of the safe was going to happen anyway. How much damage to the safe, safe contents or the home by either forcing it open there or moving the entire safe out of the house seems to be overlooked by most. Bob
I think someone else made a very similar point to this one. 😁

Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

My safe has an old S&G dial combination lock. I don't know if the safe company still has or ever had the combination.
This thing is really finnicky, and occasionally a pain in the rear to open. I feel a lot better about that lately.
On the other hand, rakes and shovels don't cost north of a grand and can be bought without government approval.
You keep making ‘sense’ and you might just get somewhere in this world ,,,,,,,, 🤣
Nah, already been somewhere, wasn't all they said it was. ................ 😎
Does anyone know how the FBI knew the fella had a Liberty safe? I don't recall reading that part anywhere.

That timeline makes sense. Into the house with a warrant, thwarted momentarily by a safe, phone call to safe maker, and we know the rest.

What can I tell you, great minds.....😉
I saw where you expanded my earlier comment near the beginning of the thread. Bob
Agree with Mr.P and bobjudy. Don't like it, but that's what it is.
