I'm about to start a policy where I ONLY ship ammo to FFLs....crazy delivery drivers!!!

Locust ForkLocust Fork Member Posts: 31,978 ✭✭✭✭

I get direct signature on my boxes that are delivered to houses.....no matter what I'm shipping.

The direct signature is supposed to be ONLY a resident of that address, not a neighbor or such.

I've got a box that has a "signature" but the buyer says he didn't get the package.

The signature is not his name, but a part of his first name and then his first name.

I've got the trace in the works and I'll start the claim for the insurance.....but they'll deny it, they do every time.

Its just NUTS these days....everything is ordered online and delivered, they pay these guys a pretty decent wage from what I understand.

You would THINK they could get a few decent delivery people SOMEWHERE.

I'd ship everything if I could find a company that actually cared to do this silly little job without any drama.

Don't poke the boxes with a forklift....don't drop them out of moving cars....don't sign a ficticious name and toss it in the woods.....don't leave things by the road.....don't lay the cardboard box down in the rain.....don't put it on your truck and then scan that you made a delivery attempt without even trying....don't smoke pot in the truck while doing your route....don't have your friend and some kids in the vehicle with you while doing your route....don't deliver an empty box....don't say the dogs in the fence (that cannot get to you) kept you from being able to deliver the package....don't deliver a twisted wreck of a box, wrapped in plastic wrap and tell me the insurance is denied......

ALL of this has happened to us....and more.

ALL delivery companies can kiss my rump.

My FFL just recently had THREE firearms in one box dropped in the middle of the parking lot when no one was there! Fact, I was the one who saw them when I drove by🥺 I can BELIEVE everything you said, it’s insane!

Makes you wonder if they kept the ammo, then claimed they never received it. People stink and so do most shipping carriers. JMTC

    This is nuts.

My account manager spoke with the ground supervisor. They confirmed that the package was delivered.

They have an image of the guys house and the little hand held gadget shows the driver was on the buyer's porch when he closed out this package.

So, I call the guy and tell him everything I just told you guys.......he said "I didn't get it". I swear, this is going to be a cc dispute and if I don't win I'm going to start digging ditches for a living. They will not be impressive ditches, but I know I'll sleep at night, tired as can be and not thinking about mess like this one bit.

The funny thing in this part of the world are the Amazon guys. They think they can just drive by my mailbox, scan the code and it will show the package is delivered.....but because my door is not close to the end of my driveway they ALWAYS have to get out, run up the driveway or back their cars up and come on up the drive in their cars. I've met one at the mailbox because I was getting my mail. The little scanner wouldn't let it show "delivered" until he jogged up my driveway a bit.

Those little handheld things know exactly where they are, how long they've been there....everything.

I had over $6000 in damages by the US Postal Service.....that was the year I decided to NEVER use them again.

UPS wouldn't get us an account manager....never even returned our call so we could show them how much we pay in shipping per week.

FedEx got in touch with us....sent two nicely dressed men out to speak with us....sends us supplies without delay. The ground operation is being combined with express...which makes me nervous. The express people are VERY on top of things. The ground outfits are all private contracts that are not "FedEx" but are doing the routes as FedEx. The guys that do our ground route are great. We've got the cell numbers of all the drivers that do our route AND the district manager's cell as well.

This particular nonsense going on is all on the buyer......he's trying to pull a fast one for sure!

I'm not saying that FedEx is better....but this is why we are sticking with them.

Mostly all I see are complaints about shipping services. I am going to have to take the other option and say that my service has always been stellar. I have received ammo from you Locust Fork, and many other items purchased thru the years with no complaints. My driveway is .9 of a mile long from the hwy and never has a package failed to be delivered directly to my home. Thank you to the : Fed EX, USPS, & UPS drivers for doing a good job.

Tom Hanks in "Cast Away" went the extra mile delivering a surviving satellite phone to a young lady out in the middle of Kansas after his Fed-Ex plane crash and being marooned for a long time, that was good advertising for Fed-Ex's service and good enough for me. No complaints here 😊

UPS takes a photo of every residential delivery now, unless a customer is met.

The problem with Fed Ex Ground is the contractors who own the routes often contract the actual work to someone else. That someone else is now making very little, and it's actually a pretty demanding job, for only driving around delivering packages. So the turnover there is very high.

At UPS, and probably Fed Ex Express, the route driver usually takes some pride in doing the job. The coverage drivers aren't always well trained and often don't plan on being on that same route tomorrow, so....

And, as everywhere else, there seems to be a wide disparity between older workers and younger workers. Everywhere I go, seems like there are more older people working.

Yep, same here. We have lived at this address for 32 years, and we have always had excellent USPS, UPS, and FedEx delivery folks.

My first house was difficult to find. The # was out of sequence & it was 150 yds behind 2 other houses. I got so many "we're too stupid to find your house cards" that I knew which bin my packages were in at the UPS Hub. When I received another card on a Saturday, for a package that they already sent back once, I looked up the UPS managers phone #. He had a unique name and it was listed in the old fashioned white pages. I politely introduced myself as a disgruntled customer & explained the situation. My regular driver delivered the package early Monday morning & showed me that a map to my house was laminated to the back of the route clipboard for fill in drivers. 😁

Had returned a rifle to Remington for a recall. When they were returning it (FedEx) they sent me email- be there tomorrow. I was on the front porch when I saw the driver hop out with a long thin box with REMINGTON green letters- and LEAVE IT on neighbor's porch.

When he ambled back to his truck, called him over, asked if he would like to call his manager? What for? To have someone come get your truck- since you are going to jail for unlawful transfer of a firearm. That adult signature firearm that you just left unattended on wrong person' doorstep.

Manager and I did have a come-to-Jesus talk.

    Crazy update......

We received the chargeback notification from the cc company and submitted everything to them showing that this was taken to the correct address and that the driver's safety video shows he was at that location.....the signature is just the buyer's first name, but it is (at least) the correct partial name. So, I feel like we have submitted enough documentation for the chargeback to be denied.

    THEN......

I get a random email from FedEx saying they are sorry for losing the package and they are telling me to submit the claim. I am so confused. I think this is a FedEx glitch between the system and the ground carrier that handles that route. Since it is a contract ordeal with a third party I'm betting FedEx corporate is planning to let the ground guys take the bullet for this one. Who knows?

Either way....since I don't know what the cc company will do I have to file the claim. If I win both I'll contact the buyer.....but I find it funny that FedEx says they lost it AND say that they have proof it is delivered.
