Vortex Quality?

LIfetime warranty is nice but my son has sent his binoculars back twice and the second return resulted in new binoculars. Spotting scope was just returned a few weeks ago and swapped by Sportsman's' Warehouse because the eyepiece came off the housing. Finally, the carbon fiber tripod legs would not collapse and that resulted in a new tripod. Anybody else have the same "luck" with Vortex?

I have a few Vortex rifle scopes and they have been very good.
I hope not. I spent $1000 for a Vortex spotting scope back in the Spring. So far so good. I use it to spot target shots out to 200 yards.
Only bad luck with Vortex. I won't buy another one.

Some of the best in my estimation, you had poor luck.
I've never used one, but they do appear to make scopes to a bunch of different price points. Probably, a $1500 scope will do better than a $300 one.
I have three Vortex rifle scopes. Price point is the determining factor. I have a Daimondback that tracks with the best, and a lower quality one that 1/4" clicks equal 3/8" at 100yds.
I have had a good luck with both Vortex scopes I currently have mounted on rifles. I also have a two of their dot sights and they have held up well too.
I have several of their binos, and consider their best to be barely second to Swarovsky at about half the price.

I've had a pair of the Razor binoculars for about 10 or 12 years, and they have been used hard and have held up well. I agree with your optical quality assessment as well. Bob

Every problem I've had with a VORTEX product has been handled with professional courtesy and immediate satisfaction.
After the wildfire destroyed my Ranger containing a rifle with VORTEX scope, I found what appeared to be the melted remains of the scope eyepiece and magnification adjustment ring. Really hard to tell since it was melted into the remains of the action and assorted other junk. I contacted VORTEX offering them the remains as a display or advertisement piece. They sent a label and a note of condolence for my loss. A couple weeks later a box containing a brand new scope arrived with another note expressing gratitude for my use of VORTEX products and my continued patronage.
That level of service coupled with the real life usefulness of the optics is hard to beat.
Could not agree more that Vortex as been 100% professional and honors the warranty. Just batting .750 right now with warranty claims - son's Bergara 7mm wears Vortex glass and no issue at this time.

I only have two of their scopes and love them. Never one problem.
Seen both the bad & good with Vortex, mostly good.
If you want to know without a doubt the preferred scope used "In Theater" you will have to make a trip to that lowly place in Idaho mentioned above.
Dude, there are a lot of places I have not heard of and I have been to places you have not heard of. That does not make them lowley, it makes you and I a little ignorant, though not a bit dumb. It just means we have places to go.😊
Vortex is (or was) family owned and they lived in Wisconsin.
Wow is that right? I thought they were the "American" version of Nikon. I suppose after Nikon gave up the scopes Vortex gained that market. Like ford got the sedan fleet market when chevy quit.
Now I got the low cheapies to mid price scopes from Vortex. Like Crossfire, Diamond I know as cheapies. Then the Viper PST I like more since it has more features. I should have bought the MOA version of the 6-24. I know I can count to 10 but 4 is so much easier since I can do it on one hand.
They're made in China, so that may take the quality down a bit. But that "we don't care if you threw it against a tree and ran it over with an 18-wheeler on purpose, just send us the item back and we'll send you a new one" kinda warranty is nice. If you want something with a similar or maybe little better reputation though, I've heard good things about Crimson Trace scopes.
Doesn’t S&W own Crimson trace( Philippine made) If so I hope they haven’t cheapened that product like they’ve done with their pistols.
