I think I'll start down sizing.

A guy I know was in a market for a Mini-14 and I figured I might as well sell mine to him.
Then I thought maybe I could down size a bit. Since I sold off my Hi-Standard "Space Gun" a while ago I've been toying with the idea. Got no kids and the people I know can buy them if they want them. No freebies from me.
I wonder how much my Ed Brown Mini-Comp Commander -80- Series would fetch? The Colt used was made in 1990 and I figure she went to Ed Brown before 1994 because he stopped working on other people's guns. I figure someone with better eyes would like her.
I should go and see what's selling at my local gun smith. Then maybe I'll put some that should get wider eyes on here for sale.

Check with L-F. Kasey came to the Indy area and took about 70 firearms and a lot of ammo to list on GB. Great lady to work with. Message her.
Yeah you ain't getting any younger. In my experience "downsizing" means getting rid of stuff that doesn't interest you any long, feeling virtuous for a few weeks, then taking the proceeds to start an accumulation that interests you today. With luck, you can do that three or even four times. You ain't alone, just a couple of decades behind some of us old farts. Have fun and best wishes my friend.
I agree with He Dog. Sell off the stuff you ain't using and get some new pieces that you like.
And be sure to post the shameless plug GB links here because we're always in the market.

seems as we get older realization hits us in the face on a lot of things.
if you have lost interest sell off and use the money for something current you like would be my 2 cents
being a very modest ( read as poor ) fellow one hobby at a time has been my life and as I would get the bug for a new hobby, I would have to sell off one "collection" to fund the next interest
the top two of mine have always been cars and guns and flip flopping my whole life between the two with a few smaller interests along the way .
I regret selling any of my firearms. But at the time it seemed necessary to survive. But most of all I regret selling my 1940 Ford Coupe, '66 Corvette green, that I enjoyed for 17 years. On the other hand we got rid of our Goldwing and bought Halliburtan which has been very good to us, currently $42.43 per share.
Downsizing makes sense in the later years. Another vote for Kasey, she was very easy to work with and things turned out better than I expected overall.
My parents left me with a lot of Stuff to sort through and move on. We are determined to not do the same thing to our sons..
The "Regrets" post by Bullshot comes to mind when I think of downsizing.
I sell what I don't use and use the money to buy what I probably won't use.A big part of gun collecting,or in my case accumulating is so you can say "Ive got one of those"
I occasionally think about downsizing in order to upgrade. Like I should sell my 3 Uberti 357 SAA revolvers & 2 Pietta SAA revolvers and get 2 nice Colt Single Action Army revolvers.
Inaction is easier than action though.
I've been considering the same. My Idea is fewer in number and greater quality and value. I've got some that when I step back and think about them, I can't explain why I still have them or why I bought them in the first place.
I tell Larry all of the time that we need to liquidate some of the odd ball items we have ended up tucking to the side. Its not a lot of "good" stuff....but general everyday things that I bought at a good deal to flip. I focus on the consignment sales to the point that anything we buy ends up getting pushed to the side. I've done it for so long that Larry counts himself as having a pretty good stash of stuff..... (I count it as having a pile of nonsense I don't have time to deal with.) There is nothing Larry doesn't see as being "treasure" though. Too funny.
You mean Larry is a regular guy like the rest of us. Wife ask, can you go to home depot and get me a blank or blank.... No honey, I got six of them in the garage, that I bought at yard sales😁.
As I have gotten older, I really lost my passion for hunting. Sold a lot of my hunting stuff, I'm slowly selling off guns that I had for investments, and buying stuff I really want to shoot. We will use the Money from the sale of some of these, to travel around in an RV, when we retire. We were just having this conversation about two nights ago. She asked me what I was going to do with all these guns. Sell them as they were always just good investments, and use the money to travel. I will always keep about twenty or so guns, just to shoot and reload for. None of my 41's will ever be sold. Those go to Chris. Anything left when I pass, will go to Kasey to sell, for Donna. I feel most comfortable knowing that Kasey won't rip Donna off, and get her top dollar for my guns. I had one friend to offer to sell y stuff for her, but I know she will get short ended by him. Just that bad feeling, cause I know how he is. Besides, Donna and Kasey are exactly alike in personalities. I know they would mesh together perfectly. Oakie
Thank you!!!!!
I can't wait to meet her!!! She sounds wonderful! :)
I don't think Kasey would drive out to pick up my meager bits. Unless she wants to go to the happiest place on earth. San Francisco. I may send her stuff I can't sell here in California if I don't list them myself.
"It's not the age it's the mileage". Also it's not the loss of interest it's zeroing out. You know leave nothing for those who think they'll get my goodies.
I agree Kasey is the top choice, and she sells my stuff. I have found though that the cost of shipping things to her is really high. I meet her in Memphis when going to the Tulsa show. A long extra days drive and an extra night in a motel and still somewhat cheaper than shipping.
Plus we get to hang out!!! I look forward to the next meeting.
