1) Pat Brady
2) Pat Buttram
3) Smiley Burnett
4) Gabby Hayes
5) Fuzzy Knight

A couple of these sidekicks were sidekicks to more than one western star. Which are they??
BONUS QUESTION number one. Who is Nellybelle and who rode her??
BONUS QUESTION number two. Who was born Harold J. Smith??
Comments
#6 Andy Devine was in many movies & shows but is probably most famous as Roy Roger's sidekick (Cookie?) who drove away in Nellybelle the jeep.
#7 Lone Ranger's sidekick for both Clayton Moore & John Hart.
Pat Brady drove Nelly Belle.
Not to forget Leo Carrillo, who was Cisco Kids sidekick Poncho. "Hey Ceeeessco!"
Of course Tonto was the redskin sidekick of "The Lone Ranger."
WHOOPS, already answered. Nelly ,, whooooooooooaaaaaaaaaa Nelly--
Andy Devine - Wild Bill Hickok.
Gabby Hays - Wild Bill Elliot, Roy Rogers.
Pat Butram - Gene Autry.
OK-Remember their horses names??
Roy Rogers-Trigger
Hopalong-Topper
Opps-Sorry-Just scrolled down and this is covered😣
What was the name of the series that centered around a ranch with a plane? One of the characters was Penny? "Sky King"?
Sky King. "Out of the blue of the western sky..."
Memories of the flying red "Nabisco" triangle that sponsored Sky King way back in the day!
Millhouse was Smiley Burnett? (Roy Rogers)
"Independence Now, Independence Forever."
John Adams
Damn sure beats the only available alternative sonny.
Nobody answered the #2 bonus question; who was Harold J. Smith???
Gene Autry's horse was Champion. I remember watching his show and the Lone Ranger every weekday night as a kid, and that only 20ish years ago.
Wasn't that (Tonto) Jay Silverheels' birth name?
Yup. Harold J. Smith changed his name to Jay Silverheels to better get parts as American Indians.
Harold became Jay, Jay became Tonto. Getum up Scout!!
He was, of course, Six Nations Mohawk from Canada, so all he improved was his name. Kind of like Norma Jean. He weren't as purty though.
