To shoot or not to shoot?

I purchased a Winchester 92 Roy Rogers tribute and I have the urge to shoot it. Either that or get a plain Jane for shooting and not lower the value on the gold plated fancy one. I'm 80 so I'm not gonna make a fortune on the value increasing much. Whatcha think? Opinion?

Some years ago I had a true desire too have a John wave and and a crazy horse versions
They were selling for several hundred over the normal run versions
I never got either one I just couldn't get my hobby money up to that point and also that excited to get them
But before long the regular production gins were catching up fast in price as most just want a gun to use not look at
Looking back I would / should have just bought them and shot them
Thibk about it All guns are test fired at the factory honest who could tell if you fired a few rounds or where the factory had tested it unless some one went crazy a good cleaning and no one could have guessed
I would have lied about it but I seen how easy it would be
I should have just bought and enjoyed the guns many more guns that cost more are bought and used every day
My adVise buy it and enjoy it
Your money, your gun, your choice... I would have to shoot it myself.
A gun that you don't shoot is like a car that you don't drive, just a hunk of metal. Buy some boolits and blast away!
I would first ask myself "what would Roy Rogers do"? Then check the going price before blasting. If the price hasn't moved up shoot it up.
Buy a beater. That will appreciate. Shoot the collectible , you are throwing away40% of the value

What good is a gun you do not shoot? Looking to increase value is fine but it was made to shoot not just look pretty.
We all know that I'm the wrong guy to ask whether to shoot a collectible rifle or not.
I'm still on the fence with my winchester 73.
They call guns you don't shoot Safe Queens. I find that kind of ironic, as all of the Queens I know of (including Queen Bee's) are not meant to be virgins! 😁

You & I are both at that age where we won't be around long enough to see any appreciable increase in the value of anything we purchase now. Last year I purchased a $4800, Beretta .410. It is pretty, but I shoot it every chance I get.

why shoot it? just to know it shoots? I don't buy guns to shoot or to store in the safe, I buy them to hunt with and such will shoot them when hunting or to let someone new to the gun community shoot one to get them involved. I don't understand the should I shoot it question as shooting paper is not as enjoyable to me as hunting, my exceptions being personal defense pistols which I shoot regularly just so I know I can hit what I aim at if need be.......
If you are worried the value may go down by shooting it, why did you buy it to begin with???
Life is too short to “save” things. Use it up! Shoot until you’re overflowing with joy or run out of ammo.
My parents raised us to “save” everything (toys, clothes, household stuff) and never enjoy it. I tell my kids to “use ‘em up and wear ‘em out!” That’s how you get value out of things.
