Not really noob on here but have not sold anything in a while. Trying to find out if I as a non FFL holder can send a sold firearm to a buyers FFL or do I need to go to a local FFL and have them send it? From what I understand is I can but do not want to end up in club fed.
The buyers FFL may put their own requirements on top of the sea of nonsense we all have to deal with.....so, to answer your question. You do NOT have to be an FFL to send an FFL a firearm to be transferred to another person....but a lot of FFLs have decided to add rules themselves requiring shipments come from FFLs and not an individual.
I forgot to add....shipping, anyone can ship a long gun through all avenues that do shipping.....you have to be an FFL to ship handguns through the USPS and handguns are required to ship overnight through FedEx. I do not know what the UPS rules are any longer.
Ups and fedx and have ffl you have to have the special account to ship firearms and ups ,even parts ,can still ship usps by individual
Just makes sure to include paperwork with buyers info, your info, a copy of your ID goes best with a gun for the buyers Ffl to feel more comfortable.
only place is Puerto Rico where both parties must provide FFLs, but some shops will require and so be very candid with the rec Ffl. Communication is best. Worst is a unnamed unidentifiable gun shows up at an Ffl. That’s when it gets real hairy with the feds
ship with an adult signature required, and include a copy of your state ID
You may find that your cost of shipping may be more than your local FFL charges for the transfer.
Shipping is getting expensive ups went up 6% dec 1
