She has us well trained after these last two and half years. Today it was in the 20's, snowing and the wind was blowing at 35-40mph. We tried to get her to come in the garage into her shelter and enjoy getting out of the weather. Instead she headed to a hollow tree in our yard. It is an old cedar tree with three sections to it. The center is open all the way to the ground and it is one of her little hidey holes. You can not reach her when she settles in. We were all concerned she would get too cold if she stayed out....

We both tried to get her to come with us during the day. She was hunkered down where you could barely see her. The snow was blowing in and piling up around her. But no way was she coming out. We tried to bribe her with food, she would not move.... So we start worrying she is hurt or some other issue....

We wasted a good part of the afternoon all concerned about her. At dark, she was on the porch as she is every night, looking to come into the garage for her supper and shelter. She did exactly what she always does. It was us thinking we knew better.

Last time I checked her, she was snoozing all curled up in the back of her bed.....

Cats are way more independent that dogs we can't even compare the two but we still try

They live their life as they please and occasionally it matches what we want them yo do

I use to get frustrated at our cats but that was long ago any one owning a cat I will guess will agree lol

You're crazy to try to make a cat bend to your will.

You know what they say " Dogs have owners, Cats have staff". 😉

Our Zoe is the same way, after being adopted by the dog we thought it would be a short time till she came indoors. That was 3 years ago.

    Outsmarted by a cat.

Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

She is a very pretty cat. It would be a shame to lose her. Maybe you could outsmart her by filling up the tree with something to appoint where you can reach down and grab her when she goes there.

That has been considered but I watched her one night jump up and go in with a group of three coyotes following nearby. There is no way one could get down in there so it is a safe spot for her...

I could only imagine what the hand that grabber her against her will would look like, ouch, ouch.

A leather glove soaked in catnip might do the trick! You need to outsmart that brat-cat!

After a while you almost worry about them like a grandkid and want what is best for them. Some want listen.

My doggie put the nip on my cat one day, nothing vicious, just wanted the feline to go away. The cat was scared and ran under the bed. I reached down to pick up kitty and comfort him, he chomped on my thumb on the joint with the hand. Little 8 pound cat, a teen-ager cat.

Three days later I was up at the ER getting antibiotics for the infection. Doc said that, had I waited 2 days more we might be looking at amputation of the thumb. He said cat bites are the nastiest, human bites second and dog bites third-nasty.

Fellow here manned the county dumpster. Cat got into the dumpster and could not get out.

Fellow tries to resolve situation, he dropped down into the dumpster grabbed the cat. Looked like he had been in a fight with a running chainsaw and lost, Here kitty, kitty. Pow.

Many years ago my wife and I our 1st house we rented was in the middle of nowhere a old farm house

Two feral kitens took up residence we fed them and some what made friends

We were moving to another place not ling aftet and did not want to just leave the cats on their own

One of the last things I did I put down some food in the kitchen to get them in

They came in I closed the door and it was on

I had never Been attacked by a house cat until that day

They Gave me a whole new understanding of being on the receiving end I did my best to not hurt the cats in the process it's was a tuff thing getting torn up and trying to be gentle

I managed to get them back out side and yelled something like

Fine just stay hear and many bad words in the mix

as I was getting into my truck with many bite marks and scratches in both arms and legs and at that time not realizing how bad cat bites could be

We Told our farmer land lord about the cats staying in the corn crib

Not sure if the next renters too up feeding them or they hit the road nest farm wad about a mile away

But I gained a lot of understanding of what a 8 pound cat could do and remember it too several plus days to heal up

I started wearing heavy welding gloves if I had any though a cat will bite me

Our beagle Daisy was let out the other night at 3am for a bathroom break. She heard something in the woods and bolted, on the attack!

There was a ferocious fight there in the dark, in the thick woods, 200 feet down the mountainside. We heard barking and screeching, sounded like a bobcat, but who knows, could have been a coyote or big raccoon. Hell I won't go down that steep mountain and all those bushes, trees and briars at noon time, no way I'm going down there at 3am. 70 degree slope, more close to vertical than flat. Fight lasted 5 minutes.

Daisy made it home OK but she had four or five bad bites on her hams and on the neck. Got the mobile vet out the next day, Daisy did not need stitches but doc gave us a load of antibiotics. She said, had that been a small bear, or a big raccoon she wouldn't be worried. But she said the bite of a wild cat, such as a bobcat, is the nastiest in the animal kingdom. Vet said if those bites were bobcat bites, Daisy would get terrible and possibly fatal infections, that's why she gave us a one week supply of antibiotics. I administered the medicine and Daisy healed up OK.

Keep an eye on her. Sometimes a bite in the gut won't show up until infection sets in.
