piggly wiggly that is, and the place was a madhouse, normally there aren't half a dozen folks in the whole store, today there were that many at each register and the aisles were full. Local forcast is for rain turning to snow after midnight but no accumulation is expected, the gal at the register said it had been that way all morning, don't know what is going on, maybe the welfare checks hit today!!!! found a can of diced rutabagas never had them so got a can to give em a try allways figured they tasted like turnips, guess I will find out this evening.........

Big weather changes around here this weekend. Expecting 40 mph winds, Windchills at -25 and daily highs in the single digits or zero. My bride and I ran to the little diner close to us for breakfast. It was stuffed. I guess every other fool was looking for a little time out before hunkering down for a few days. We stopped at the little market and picked up some snacks. It was stuffed also...
In the time we left until we return home, the temp had dropped 6 degrees and we were getting some freezing fog. So home now and intending to stay close as our road is already icy.
I have lined up some projects in the basement. I guess my hunting season is over...
I miss the Piggly Wiggly in Roanoke. They carried different brands & items you couldn't get any where else.
I like Rutabaga better than turnips. They don't seem to have that bite. Try to find Rutabaga with the tops still on. Cook the tops with the root and a piece of pork. Mmm.
Sounds like my little burg town brother..our Pig was bustling today too..must be the holiday Monday..or was it the beer sale...lol.. ;)...Loko
Look who's back.😁
LOKO!!!! Why you ol reprobate, great to see ya stop by. Where the heck ya been?
Piggly Wiggly. The great grocery store of Georgia. We don't have them here in the NC mountains. I did see one in north Georgia last week, Dillard I think, that's the farthest north they have made it.
Went to Oshkosh in 2000. There was one across from the airport.
Wife was happier about P.W. than a greased landing.😉
My "piggly wiggly" preferred club card is dated 09/05!
Hoggly woggly is a staple in eastern NC. I shop ours more than any of the others. We have them ,harris teeter,Aldi and foodlion and the walmart stuff.
Snow= milk and bread
Hurricanes= water and flashlight batteries
Zombie apocalypse= MREs and .223
my disaster shopping= coffee and bourbon
Looks like he was at Piggly Wiggly.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Sure good to hear from you LOKO, @LOKO383

So y'all have the Piggly Wiggly there in the eastern part of the state. That's interesting, as there are none here in the mountains. Asheville is the home of Ingles so that is the main grocery store around here.
Allen , I has never heard of Ingles until several years ago when I was up your way on vacation .
Shopped Piggly Wiggly way back in '74 when I lived in Sumter SC. Back then, their prices compared pretty close to the base commissary at Shaw AFB and I lived off base in town.
There was also a grocery store there called Bi-Lo and I'd also shop there on occasion. In 74, 50 bucks would fill your cart full to the brim with a lot of meat in the mix!
Ever hang out at the Food Lion in Washington NC?
This guy looks like Hunter Biden.
