Same as Daniel. Turnip in place of potato, no cabbage and French crusty rolls.
Vegetable beef soup. Carrots, corn, potatoes, tomato juice with 1.5lbs of lean stew meat. Cooked all day in the crockpot, tastes great on a cold night !!!! And it will be even better tomorrow !!
Oven done pot roast in cast iron dutch oven with tatters, carrots and whole button mushrooms.
sounds like it's a soup night!!!!!!!!😋
Elk burger, no bun. Compliments of a friend.
turkey pot pie straight from bidens food pantry😕
Had pork tenderloin, browned up in cast iron pan and slow cooked in crockpot with sauerkraut and sliced potato's. Meat melted in my mouth tender!
Dinner is midday here, chicken schnitzel, pan fried mashed taters and mushroom gravy.
Had a childhood fave: open-faced roast beef and gravy on bread with mashed potatoes and a side green salad.
for supper we had sgetti and meatballs, garlic bread, broiled summer squash and brussel sprouts.
The other night had big ol pot of ham -n- bean soup with corn bread
bacon, eggs, taters and toast.......
Mississippi venison pot roast done up in the crockpot. Not enough m's in mmm
What kind of salmon?
Trust me, it matters!
If you can find some get some Sockeye. Even if it's frozen! OMG good fish.
Santa Fe the chain Mexican supermarket has the caldo de res. It's pretty good. They use that odd squash chayote (sometime prickly and others not).
I did the beef shank osso buco style. It was okay but I doubt I'll make it again like beef bourguignon.
As for salmon King is best but one needs to take out a home loan to buy one. Sockeye is good but in my neck of the woods I never see it. I get Keta or Pink. Keta is way better than Pink (I don't buy Pink). It goes without saying stay away from farmed salmon.
I had to look up the Scottish Salmon. Turns out it's a farmed Atlantic. Interesting article..
Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull fame was into raising salmon. Not sure if he is still at it though.
YUP! @austin20, that sleazy Aqualung with the snot running down his nose sure gives me an appetite for some salmon!! 😁
Homemade chicken noodle soup in the crock pot right now !!!! Salad and rolls....
Pork schnitzel with cranberry relish and with sautéed yellow beans.
Home done tacos
A group of us ,lifelong friends who grew up together have a regular eating meeting. A member of the group cooks for the group every other week on Thursday . Been doing this for 25 plus years . Tonight was my turn .
6lbs of cubed venison ,2 lbs bacon 2 lbs smoked sausage cut in small chunks 5 lbs of cubed red potatoes . Slow simmered in a tomatoe based sauce . One large sweet onion cut up . Served over white rice . Side order of cheddar cheese toast. I use hotdogs rolls to make the toast . We hurt ourselves
Dungee crabs are on sale for $6.00 a pound and they claim "fresh". Bought the similar sale with "fresh" in December but I had a feeling it was frozen that time. I reckon by now the last season's freezer stock got moved so this time it might be "fresh"? The plan is basically shell out the crab meat and fold it into eggs with sliced green onions. Think Egg Foo Young without the gravy.
I wonder if I'll have enough crab by the time I shell it? You know like picking berries. One for the bucket one for my gullet and so on. I may have to buy a spare crab?
That sounds like a good time! You're a lucky man to have friends from 25 plus years ago.
Country fried chicken and all the fix-ins
Beer battered fried fish with homemade onion rings.
Neoblackdog , tge bi-weekly get together help us stay in touch with one another. The last real country store in the neighborhood closed about 20 years ago . Nowhere now to run into the neighbors .,unless you count the drugstore! Folks might want to think about doing the same thing .
Pizza
That's what we did tonight. Had to go into town so I picked up a couple of Papa Murpy's finest.
I buy "Deli Pizzas" made fresh from the grocery store. They have a decent crust but are a little lacking in toppings. I usually add more cheese and sometimes ham or more peperoni. Not bad
Homemade clam chowder.
