Do yogurt go bad?

I came across Tillamook yogurt in the fridge that "expired" Dec. 4, 2023. Since yogurt is basically gone off milk it's already bad, right? Opened it and it didn't have fur growing or had an odd smell. Tastes okay. We'll see what happens. Yes that means I ate it.

Why do they put an expiration date on sour cream?? It already went bad
Yes sir, 'cultured' (rotten) milk is great for the digestion(especially when it empties the entire gut for a complete restart).😆
Expiration dates are only guides to protect the manufacturer and do not mean the product is unsafe to eat. However, anything used after the date should be carefully inspected.
What nvac said. As long as your fridge is cold, and the product is unopened, it will be fine. Check (taste) carefully though before shoveling it down.
December 4 may be ok. Open it if there's mold throw it out. Yogurt and buttermilk keep well.

The question; Do yogurt go bad? The answer is YES.
I buy it in larger quart containers and after it is opened and is not used up by the date on the container, I have seen it develop mold or separate into a lot of watery gross liquids. I toss it when it happens. I also learned a long time ago to always use a clean utensil every time you dip into a container (applies to all foods), no licking the spoon and dipping again.
Yes…especially when it hasn’t been kept at proper temperature. Glad you had a tasty snack, but my thought is that yogurt is relatively cheap while food poisoning sucks.
What don't kill you will make you stronger. It has enough preservatives to last beyond the shelf date.
does it go bad????? you will know before tomorrow....
How would you know if it had gone bad? You realize that lil' tub of goo is just a microbiology experiment gone awry, don't you?
I suspect that spoiled yogurt/milk is what they give you to consume for a good clean out few days before you are scheduled for a colonoscopy.
That reminds me of one I heard sometime back.
Marrying the same woman twice is kinda like opening the fridge and taking a swig of spoiled milk (and it leaves a very bad taste in your mouth that just lingers) and saying to yourself, I'll set this spoiled milk back in the fridge and see if it tastes better later.
There are two expiration dates. The first is an “expiration date”, after which an item is usually will not be safe to eat.
Then there is a “best by date” which means a product is best eaten by that date but it will last longer and will still be safe to eat.
Per the USDA yogurt if refrigerated it can be eaten 2 weeks beyond the expiration date. You are pushing it, but if no mold, smell or no chunks go for it.
There's a 3rd: @yoshmyster 's expiration date if he eats that stuff.

A little gassy but since I'm lactose intolerant it's par for the course.
Now I wonder how much honey I would need to counter act the old yogurt?
You'll be fine 🙂

Expiration dates are for sissy people. If it's been sealed, doesn't smell bad, hasn't separated & is free of mold, it's good. Ask any bachelor. We have products from a store that closed years ago.
I'm looking at a jar of "pork with BBQ sauce" that says, "use by 8/17/23" from Rural King. After I eat the meat, I'll add more sauce, vinegar and sliced pork loin.
It's been nice knowing you. 😂

@Kevin_L Thank you for your kind sentiments. I ate 1/2 of it & no problem, so far, 6 hours later🙄.
It do!
Ain't bad until the greenish/bluish fuzzy scuzzy covers the top!!
Even my wife, who will throw NOTHING out, throws out that which is covered with the fuzzy scuzzies!!!😂
Just open it up and look in. If nothing is moving you are good to go.
