Yes I recycle. I wonder if this is the reason why the post office is hemorrhaging cash?
Comments
They are hemorrhaging cash because they are a BLOATED federal program run by a bunch of money grabbing idiots(like 99% of federal programs/agencies). They treat money like its free, because it is to them! Too many benefactors and not enough results.
Just sayin'
Boxholders are the only money makers for the USPS.
Email will be their demise.
I can send an email and the recipient can receive it in less than 10 seconds.
I send snailmail (after buying a stamp and driving to the mailbox). The recipient is lucky to receive it at all.
Yes, they will probably go out of business, but the good thing is I won't be getting anymore announcements telling me how I should vote.
yoshy they do that in case you need to return it...........
Really makes no difference. USPS regulations state that a stamp can't be reused even if it wasn't cancelled during the initial use.
US Military Guy: Keep this in mind while you're grousing about USPS. One of the possible reasons USPS has been failing is because they give extra consideration to Veterans during hiring, promotions, and in case of rule violations. It's been this way for decades and I've watched deadbeats using the 'V-card' to get away with all sorts of misdeeds or failure to work up to normal expectations.
You poked the bear and he growled back.
I like it too. Makes me feel like I'm getting one over on the man.
If it wasn't cancelled how would anyone know it's being reused?
The USPS is "failing" because they hire too many veterans?
"If it wasn't cancelled how would anyone know it's being reused?"
That's not the point. The point is it's illegal to re-use a stamp. Personal integrity is the issue.
"The USPS is "failing" because they hire too many veterans?"
Hey, a guy who claims(?) to be military is tossing out ambiguous comments about USPS and I simply responded with a comment that might pinch his toes. He made unfounded comments about how/why USPS is failing. My comments at least have a hint of truth. I worked for USPS 30 years and just stating what I saw during that time.
Really? I thought they just missed cancelling it in the shuffle.
Maybe second time around they'll cancel it? Or maybe I put it on a envelope and mis-addressed it so I had to take the stamp off and put it on a corrected envelope?
I simply stated what the regulations say. You can use that info as you choose.🤔
Thank for the info. I was just thinking up the excuses I'd say to the Post Master General when he comes in guns a blazing killing my fish in the aquarium.
Is the Post Master General claiming(?) to be military? 🤔
I can send a email to myself and get it in a few seconds almost free.
I can buy a envelope, stamp, address the envelope to myself, drive 1/4 mile dirt road to the mailbox and the letter travels over 200 miles before I might eventually get it back.
When Brandon gets USPS EV's they will be more efficient. (I've heard this rumor)
Sure hope we can keep the Gov't from handling our emails.
They don't handle your emails.......they just read em and store em for later use! 😁
Just sayin'
I read years ago its a bit fuzzy in my memory so I hope some one can put me back on track lol
The post office is regulated to death by the government not only retires and benefits cost
But some thing about they were not allow by stature or law ?
about making profits and any so called profits were shifted into different alphabet groups
yes something to effect that the retirement fund has to be fully funded for some unrealistic time compared to private companies, I think the same with the health care fund........
Very common here. We rarely see a cancellation stamp on a real stamp.
Why don’t you just buy a stamp? They only cost 66 cents. It’s the honest thing to do, and you’ll have a clear conscience.
I can't speak for these guys but I've reused many uncancelled stamps & I sleep very well at night.
As much of my money as the federal government has wasted, somebody there should have an attack of conscience! 😉
Doing my part lol
I just ordered 50.00 ( rounded off number) of stamps
they will.last us a long time no doubt About that .
Out of the four I ordered one sheet I will keep just because i liked them its muscle car themed and one sheet I will give to my older son its based on RR terminals .
I Don'tcollect stamps but they just caught my eye
Several years ago I bought a couple
Sheets / pads ? what ever their called celebrating hot wheels
After all no matter what they can be used forever lol
US Military Guy - I'm in California. The government agency will do what ever they feel like then let it linger in the courts for the next generation.
waltermoe - I do buy a roll of stamps. This is like finding money on the ground to me.
By law, USPS is not allowed to 'make a profit' nor is USPS allowed to raise stamp price UNTIL a need is justified.
Years back there was a determination that USPS would be forced to pay in advance for many retirement benefits. That was the beginning of the end. I saw the light at the end of the tunnel, determined it was an approaching train, and took early retirement before the crash.
Dad's advice: "If you're going to jump ship, do it in shallow water". I did and was able to secure a job with another agency that lasted until I turned 72 and decided I'd had enough.
Was this comment written in 1992??
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Having retired in 2019 with 33 years as a rural carrier, the postal service went from workplace to war zone when the deficit reduction act was passed. It required the postal service to pre fund the healthcare costs of its employees 75 years into the future. It may have been repealed or changed but it was still in effect when I retired. This caused the USPS to show deficits of billions yearly.
In 2018, veterans made up 16 percent of the Postal Service workforce, per a Pew Research Center analysis
It is 30% at the VA I work at.
