Got 6 or so coyotes really singing this evening, they have every dog in hearing range barking.

In the spring and the fall when we can sleep with the bedroom windows open, sometimes it sound just like they’re just right outside the window. I love living in the country, no way could I ever live in a town again.

Sometimes they are! We had a few yodelin' early this morning with the Great Horned owls singin' harmony.
Fox ran across my yard tonight with something in its mouth. They must be having young?
Ours are gathering for breeding season.

I've shot a few of them yotes while they were sitting on their haunches and yodeling. One yote when he really gets into himself will sound like a whole pack.
I usually wait until he is into his best song with his nose straight up yowling when I send it now. Every once in awhile I get one that barks like a dog when yodeling.
I've also heard grey foxes bark like a small dog.
The yodeling sure ends fast when the send it now arrives.
Got a big yote few years ago that was carrying a large cow's leg bone. He still had the bone in his mouth when he expired.
With all the snow we have had lately the coyotes are hard pressed to find food, they’re not as efficient hunters when snow is on the ground. It makes it a lot easier to call them in and get a shot at them. Around here matting season seems to come in around middle of February.
I used to hear the coyotes singing occasionally 5 or 6 years ago. I always enjoyed hearing them.
A couple of housing developments went in over in the direction I would hear the song dogs. I haven't heard them in quite awhile.
I would rather hear the coyotes than see the housing developments.😕
I've got a close up game camera picture of a Yote that was taken Dec 26, 2023 and just bare grey colored skin, not a single hair on it's body. Weather has been really cold afterwards. Them are tough critters. Chupacabra maybe.
I've heard of Mexican hairless. Wonder if it might be a pet or SERVICE ANIMAL that did not get bussed with it's owner? (and needs a FREE ride)

I've never heard of that Sampsons term but would be close to a fittament. Maybe from Samson getting his hair cut off and losing his strength.
I also suspect product of mange. I seen a picture of Yote in the same place in hot summer and hair was going away, just a few patches of weak hair around on it's tail and body, suspect this might be same one.
OR Might be a Service animal that did not get bussed with it's owners to NYC.
Might should contact Brandon and Kamala or possibly the Gov of Tx about possible lost Service animal. (that needs a flea collar)
Better just pack it up and send it to the White House Retirement home. I hear there's a guy there that's real good with dogs...
Around here any trip outside at night brings a response from the local coyotes. They bark when they see a flashlight. They bark when I drop a feed bucket. They bark when one of the dogs yips. In the summer when windows are open, I can hear them bark when the bathroom light is turned on at night. I mean the stinkers are within sight of the house year round during hours of darkness coming right up to the yard.
It's not unusual to hear 5-6 family groups howling back and forth any evening. We carry a rifle 24/7/365 and SOS.🤨
