Rabbit hunting

Some local boys came to hunt my place this morning. The had about 10 dogs. They jumped a few and shot 4. One fella brought his grandson and he killed his first rabbit.
I enjoyed sitting on the porch a listening to the dogs.

Are they going to be OK?
Thanks for the memories. There was nothing like jumping on a brush pile in the 50's and having a bunny blast out from under it!!!
Yes, thanks for the memories. Me an my dog handler with a limit of Arkansas bunnies.
mighty nice of you to allow them to hunt
good day for all
I'm not sure you could find 4 rabbits in 1000 acres here.
Probably, as long as they are cooked right.
My very first rabbit hunt, I was put to work doing what the Beagle's were supposed to do. We had no Beagles and I was very young and a bit gullible back then! 😲 😁
And I thought I was the only one.
Took one into the garage to clean it, came back out to get the other and something had took it. It’s bad enough I got to compete against the coyotes and filthy hawks anymore, but now it appears even the thieving raccoons or something.
Never had a rabbit dog. I usually hunted with my "second" dad. We hunted with 22 rifles and were pretty good at it. He had a couple universal dogs, a small fiest and a * and tan. Rabbit hunt by day and hicoon hunt at night. We were the dogs often. Jump on a brush pile or trudge through a brier patch usually paid off. Had to shoot quick as there were always plenty of whistle pig holes around. Sometime bugs would make it to a hole or rock pile. Barbed wire was your friend.
We were hunting one day with a weak stomached friend. We did the ole sling the innards trick, never heard such carrying on in all my time.
Love me some fried rabbit with biscuits and gravy.
The good ole days gone by.
Note, rabbits fair rough around here, too many hawks, owls, and coyotes.
Beagles running a rabbit is sweet music for the ears.
Brother and I hit the woods earlier this week to do a little rabbit hunting as well. He brought his two female beagles and I brought Shiggles the beagle. Max the cat joined us as well. Max followed us into the woods and hung with us through woods, open areas, briar patches and muddy puddles.
We had one good race and a great morning walking the woods and visiting. We carried our single shot bolt action .410's that have been in our family for 60 years or more.
Not one bunny was harmed in what was a wonderful day reminiscing.
Can't really tell from the left side, but that looks a lot like the Sears J.C. Higgins .410 that was my first "real" gun. And I had a Bengal cat for 13 years that would sit in the tree stand with me or sit at the base of the tree and ambush chipmunks when she got bored.
Susie Max is looking a lot like Franks Martha. I remember when they were both kittens they looked alike.
