Why do werewolves "claw"?

The things youtube start playing if left alone.
Anyways, I can understand werecats like tiger, lion and etc clawing when they attack but wolves? Canines would paw things when they hold things to gnaw but clawing is a cat thing. Is the clawing by werewolves more a modern thing? You know when they take a big swipe.

It's because the human hand doesn't fully change to a wolf paw during the change so you end up more of a furry large clawed hand
So half wolf and half human the claws/nails would be kind a thin and short so it'll be easy to break or barely scratch. So it won't go through cloths let alone shred a man to ribbons at best get red marks on the skin from one crazy night by lady fingers.
Arguably one of the best is "An American Werewolf in London'. When Jack gets killed and David sees him later, Jack tells David to kill himself before he turns. As a talking corpse, Jack has some really huge claw marks, so it seems like the first werewolf had some really big claws.
They should have listened when the old man said, "stay off the moors Lads."
Is the clawing by werewolves more a modern thing?
Perhaps modern werewolves identify as werecats. Or maybe werelobsters. You don't wanna get the claw from one of those!!!

It's a little known fact that only werewolves west of the Mississippi claw. Their eastern cousins are paw and gnawers. Signed, C. Clavin
Most Werewolves won't tell you why they do that and it's not polite to ask.
Just adds more fear and gore to the movies my best guess
If were talking scary movies I prefer old vampire movies produced by Hamer films, from the 1970's then the older versions of them over the the werewolf movies
This is a old question, but do you think Frankenstein was happy
Why else would you pick the best parts from men, then give your monster a flat head to set your drink on
Maybe Just me but I would have made a woman , just saying. Lol
Finally! A topic worthy of losing sleep over!!!
Kevin_L - To deal with werelobster is with a tub of warm drawn butter.
Ditch-Runner - Christopher Lee in those Dracula movies were scary. I wonder when the enemies of Lee during WW2 saw his beginnings of Dracula face?
Frankenstein was insane but yeah he had the capacity to be happy. Now for the monster he didn't have the ability because of brain death.
Question. How did the mummy kill people? I never saw many of the Universal Monster movies. Also what was the deal with the Creature From The Black Lagoon?
NeoBlackdog - It's about 7 out of 10. Nothing like who invented the heated toilet seat or which porn star would you marry, kill or eat. Or how many scenes is too many.
I think the mummy just strangled people it's not like you couldn't have out run his gimpy walk
The creature from the black lagoon best i could tell just drown his victims for being in his area for what ever reason
My wife and I have always enjoyed scary movies and science fiction films
The range of the bad guys and monsters seems endless,
To Try and pick even a few top ten is difficult due to the wide range of varations
I still watch a lot of them mostly late night as I can't slep any way
In all honesty and wish i could say it was just a bad movie
What scares me the most is the jello brain president and his handlers destroying our great country .it Doesn't get any more scary
no, the hand-paw is quite large with claws like steel
Just look at wolverines "knives" lol
The scene in the werewolf movie with Lon Chaney Jr. where he changes from a person to a werewolf in a matter of 30 seconds, that scene took over 9 hours to film.
brier-49 - Unlike feline claws canine claws aren't designed to rip. Even if the claws are "steel" like they don't come out sharp.
Ditch-Runner - Stop it. That's comic books.
waltermoe - Well yeah. No CGI but stop motion.
werewolf is way different than canine, their claws will rip a person to shreds lol
Just for the heck of it I watched American werewolf in London
Last night as I have not watched it since its original release years ago
I had even forgot most of it but when he changed he did rip the victims up with his claws and if course biting them
I had forgot how they injected comedy into the movie like the theater where all his victims were confronting him
And honest I had forgotten over the years how it ended
No mater just a movie, no use to try and compare it to real world
Other than i would not like being ripped up by any wild animal and enduring the pain
but i truly enjoy horror and science fiction movies Even the campy not so good ones
Ever since this thread started I've had this stuck in my head. Thought I'd share...
Pretty sure those Mits aren't for scratchin' fleas!!
